Which was worse: 1995-1999 or 2002-2006?

Which of the two major periods of silence would you say was worse:

The period from 1995 til when OMG dropped in late 1999?

Or the period from the cancellation of the Chi Dem tour in December 2002 to the massive leaks of February 2006?

Both were roughly 3/4 years of mostly nothingness except rumor and innuendo, but which was worse in your opinion?

02-06. There was so much unknown and it ended so spectacularly fucking awfully. There was only bad news. No growing mystique like the 90s. I think I was more invested in CD and those were dark times.

I was only around for 02-06. I got into GnR when I was in 8th grade in 2001. I was aware of GnR because of the 90s when MTV played November Rain nonstop. I loved the old band but grew intrigued by the mystique Axl had built up with nu-guns. I was in 9th grade when they did the VMAs and was over the moon. Thought Axl was going to take the world over and then Philly happened. The only saving grace for 02-06 was leaks.

Edit: at least in the late 90s you had the Spin or Rolling Stone article teasing new song titles for the first time.

02 - 06 because we became optimistic.

2002-06 because fans really expected album(s).

The late 90s....while fans wanted an album...it was obvious nothing was happening.

Ditto…from Rio 2001 to 2002, we had songs and strong talk from Axl and Team Brazil about an album.

2002 to 2006 was just painful…
