Pretty much a bitch move on Smith's part. It was a tame joke by any stretch. The funny thing was it barely fazed Rock. And Jada has talked sooooo much shit about people for thirty years. Just don't go somewhere you know you're going to be made fun of.

You guys know my feelings on these types of incidents.... manufactured publicity stunts.
This past decade has not been kind to the Oscars. They are fading into irrelevancy. Barely get any viewers...and they recently decided to pull the plug on some awards. Shit tons of negative press leading up to the event.
Now the Oscars are being talked about all over the world thanks to this slap. We'll be hearing about it for days on TV, news, social media, and see it in the form of memes for years.
IF the incident was genuine, definitely a fucked up move on Smith's part. He should've been escorted off the premises immediately and when winning the Oscar, his wife or assistant has to accept the award. It would've sent a clear message that you don't pull shit like this at such an event.

No doubt it was a shitty poor taste joke from Chris Rock. But the fact that Will could walk up and assault him without any repercussions then get a standing ovation later in the evening for it. It’s just fucked up.
Even the aggressive swearing and intimidation Will directed at him after was out of line. Especially when he was actually laughing at the joke himself.

Surely if it's a work Rock sells it more? I think based on everything it's genuine.
Smith's blown up what was supposed to be the pinnacle moment of his career. Madness. And totally out of line. I imagine only reason he wasn't asked to leave is the Academy didn't know what to do and knew he was going to win.
