Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Higher Learning - Hadn't watched this since back in the day.
Not nearly as good as I remembered it. It tries to do too much. One minute it looks like it's an indictment on campus date rape/ frat boy culture, the next minute it flirts with homosexuality, then it abandons those and goes all in on racism.
I also didn't like how characters simply vanish for apparently no reason. Swanson's best friends at the beginning, played by Neilsen and Kari Wuhrer, party girls to the max, just vanish as she cozies up to the lesbian. They could've hired complete unknown actors for those roles.
Then Ice Cube, a major character in the film, also vanishes for the final 20-30 minutes.
The real highlight here is Rappaport as a neo-Nazi.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Sorority Row - Only made it about 20 minutes in. Awful. This might be the most unlikeable cast of characters in a horror film.
A Most Wanted Man - A pretty good slow burner about the war on terror in Germany.
Hoffman's death such a huge loss.
Affliction - Another film in my "Why did you wait 20+ years to watch this?" category. I thought it was amazing. Another slow burn.
This is Nolte's best film. Probably deserved an Oscar. I like how the movie isn't really about the supposed crime. It's about Nolte's descent into madness as he turns into his father...a man he loathes more than anything.
Edit
I forgot...I watched Moving right before going to sleep...the Richard Pryor movie.
This is easily his second worst film....right behind Another You.
Only thing I liked about it is King Kong Bundy in a minor role.

Is the 80s original any good? The House on Sorority Row, I believe it's called.
On the Pryor front, have you seen Blue Collar which is a really good late 70s drama, starring Pryor, Harvey Keitel and Yaphet Kotto?

I haven't watched the original in decades. Now that you mention it, I should've picked it instead. It's probably on one of these movie streaming apps.
No never watched Blue Collar. That's probably one of the only films of Pryor's I've yet to watch.
I should watch Urban Cowboy. We used to watch that a lot when I was a kid. It was always on HBO or Showtime.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Anyone seen Prince of the City (1980)? Any good? Not a big fan of Treat Williams but I do like Sidney Lumet.
This was really good, fantastic soundtrack. Not too many people screwed up their career like Paul Le Mat. Big fan of American Graffiti and wondered what else he did.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
I've only watched two episodes, but Pam & Tommy is pretty funny. I'm shocked they're not getting sued for these portrayals. She wears obvious synthetic tits. His wang is basically its own character. Seriously. For the first time I can actually stand Seth Rogan.

Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
I’m caught up through episode 4. I find it entertaining, but the portrayal and acknowledgement that Pam Anderson (and Tommy Lee) was a real person traumatized and exploited by the release of the tape makes me feel uneasy of being entertained. It’s without a doubt a significant cultural event from the 1990s, but it’s a shame the media and pundits pretended the exposure of the tape was remotely acceptable.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
No, they don't come off as remotely real people. It's basically a high quality porno but without the sex. I'm sure Tommy is a douche, but he's a sociopathic douche in this. I can't see him seeing this and being happy, though apparently he is. So what do I know.
