Re: Play your library randomly

This migh be a fun thread, might not be. We'll see. The idea is to play your music library, like iTunes or something, on random (like Party Shuffle mode or whatever), post what was played and rank each track. And if you're afraid to hit random because that Hanson album might turn up, feel free to lie.

But anyways, I'll start off with...

Sunshine - Alice in Chains   Facelift, as an album has been growing on me lately. If not for the production I'm sure it'd be my favorite AIC release. Sunshine is a very good song, the chorus is sick! I'll give it an 8/10.

One Wild Night - Bon Jovi   Haven't intentionally listened to Bon Jovi, well, ever. But this is a good song that my brother loves. I'll give it a 7/10.

Walk - Blind Melon   Hell yeah! The new Blind Melon has made me love the old BM even more. This song, and this album, is such a hidden musical gem from the 90s. Beautiful, with Shannon kicking ass in way no one else can. 10/10

Illuminate - Imperial Drag   Eric Dover fronts this group would only had one release. It's cool, I guess, half the songs are good. This is a nice slow song, but it's not as good as the other ballad on the album (Dandelion) and doesn't touch me all that much. Decent tho. 6.5/10.

Looks That Kill - Motley Crue   Not really a Crue fan, but as far as glam goes, you can do worse. 6/10.

Good thread smile Wasn't overly enthusiastic about the song I got - Kiss Me On The Bus, The Replacements. I've heard the song plenty of times before but this was a live version and had a neat 10 second impromtu Buck Hill jam half way.

My eyes couldn't help but look at the other songs on the setlist though sad So many better songs I would have preferred

Love & Rockets- So Alive

Great late 80's track. One hit wonder though.

Donald Fagen- New Frontier

Killer early 80's solo track by the lead singer of Steely Dan

Genesis- No Son of Mine

Not my fave Genesis track. Its on We Cant Dance.

MIA- Hussle

One of her worst tracks.

Ronnie Milsap- Any Day Now

Only like a handful of his songs.

Richard Marx- Don't Mean Nothing

Cant believe I even admitted to that one.

Lisa Germano- a psychopath

VERY creepy song. Underrated artist.

Metal Gear Solid IV - Theme of Love

An epic sounding track, reminds me of the POTC main theme for a little while, then it heads into a middle eastern vibe.  Nice song.

Uematsu Nobuo - Advent: One Winged Angel

Another epic sounding song.  Starting off, it sounds very alarming, like your doom is coming, then it breaks into some heavy guitar riffage.  Another great song from a great soundtrack.

Megadeth - The Conjuring

Starts off kinda creepy sounding, with Dave Mustaine sounding kind of creepy.  Overall, great track though.  Although early Megadeth is not my favorite since the production is not the best due to Dave's drug habit.

Avenged Sevenfold - Burn It Down

The beginning of this song kicks your fuckin' ass.  Very fast paced song and one of my favorites.

Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age - Aqua Rock

Pretty  cool sounding, like something you might hear on The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Ok...I got:

*Bring Em Back Alive - Audioslave. It's actually one of my favourite audioslave tracks so i'm pretty pleased with that choice.

* Wild Wild West - Will Smith.  Although i wouldn't consider myself a rap fan in general the occasional Will Smith tune is kinda a guilty pleasure for a guitar head like me! this isn't one of his best ever but its ok.

* Miseducation - Frameshift. This is an album I got cos Baz was on it, and I'll be honest...i haven't really listened to it all that much..i got it at the same time as a few other CDs and it kinda got burried in my collection....its a mix of baz' awesome vocals with some more progressvie style metal. Its hard for me to adjust to it cos i'm more of a hard rock or classic 80s metal kinda guy..and this is somewhere in between. Listening to the track now..its ok...but not as cool as Angel Down style stuff to me.

*Bust a Move - Young MC. hahah...for all your 80s classic needs. For some reason my itunes random seems to pick this song more often that randomness would suggest...

*Sailing - Rod Stewart. Got this after I heard Axl's cover as I wanted to hear the orginial. Its definately a beautiful song - but I must say I loved the really high pitch that axl sang it in more...i'd love to hear a studio version of that.

*Essence - Steve Vai. This is on a double album of his I got. To be honest i've never heard it before I must always skip it. I really love certain songs from vai when he plays in particualr style. But all instrumental songs tend to bore me except when they're in a style of guitar playing I really like. Shame it didnt pic one my my favourtite vai tracks and I could rant about that.

*Kiss - Prince. Great song...love the vocals and the funky guitar..just never ages.

*Dog - Whitesnake. Whitesnake are an interesting band, awesome guitar work...and a singer with awesome vocal range almost ala Baz and Axl...but sadly terrible songwriting and lyrics. This is one of their new tracks with the new lineup - who have truely scarely skills on guitar. This is about what i expect  from a whitesnake tune...kinda catchy, purile lyrics with puns that that sound like they were written by a 13yo..yet impressively sung....but with guitar solos so hard they make you want to quit guitar and worship.

Anyway that's prob enough for now! We have to leave before it picks a Disney Princess Christmas Album song... LOL.....

Cradle of Filth - "English Fire" - One of the better tracks off Nymphetamine, itself an underrated album.

Wednesday 13 - "Faith in the Devil" - Catchy tune off Wednesday's second solo album, Fang Bang. The second album has a lot more punk and a lot less glam metal going on. I haven't decided if that works for or against it.

The Smashing Pumpkins - "Pomp and Circumstances" - Decent enough, as far as slow Pumpkins songs go, but not a track I tend to play a lot on its own.

Paul Stanley - "Wake Up Screaming" - Pretty badass rocker off Paul Stanley's latest solo album.

Harry Manfredini & Michael Zager - "Introduction to Horror" - I have a lot of rare horror scores in my playlist. Friday the 13th Part III, aside from being the best entry in the series, also nabs best score in my opinion.

floyd the barber - Nirvana

from the pretty rough sounding bleach album, before dave grohl i think so its kinda missing the signature nirvana drums. you could prolly play this track for someone and it would epitomize everything t hat cobain stood for musically,

Whatever - Godsmack

I used to like these guys but this track, like every track they do is about telling someone to fuckoff 16 it gets old after a while..so my opinoion of the track...whatever

Take me back then - Days of the New

this is from the green album, which wasnt very well recieved...stiull though i think its a great disk and it explores many different things musically this track has violins and banjos in the mix..it works though...somehow 22

Forgotten - Linkin Park

Pretty cool track, pretty cool band, i know alot of people dont like them but i think they have a great sound...even though its way overproduced

Black sabbath...black sabbath

awesome track awesome album, the birth of metal, ozzy and iommi bring a very evil sound to the song...my mother in law told me about the first time she heard this album...she said that her and her freinds thought they were gonna die 16
