Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Unforgiven ( again a personal choice here)
One of the greatest films ever made.... period.
Watched it again a few nights ago.
The last 10-15 minutes is mind-blowing.
A few more big 90s movies.... early in the decade....
Ghost
Pretty Woman
Misery
Silence of the Lambs
Schindler's List
Philadelphia
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Iron Giant
I don't remember this at all. Had to look it up. Didn't jog my memory.
Here's one not talked about much anymore but played a big role in reigniting the summer blockbuster season....
Independence Day
They were idiots for not doing a sequel in 97.
Summer 96 was massive..
Mission Impossible
Twister
Independence Day
Eraser
The Cable Guy
The Rock
The Nutty Professor
A Time To Kill
Amazing period.
Edit
I like the wacky fan theory that The Rock is a Bond movie.

Look up underrated and forgotten in the dictionary and there's a picture of this....
This one probably won't get the respect but if you're looking for one of time capsule movies that represents the 90s, yeah it's this one. Saw it a while back (finally). Grunge/alt rock soundtrack--check. Flannel dress/wardrobe--check. Idealism/philosophy on life vs realism (ie making money to pay rent)--yeah. And add in some cultural stuff like The Gap being a trendy retailer. Yeah, it's a great snapshot of the 90s.
Mission Impossible
The first MI still holds up as my favorite one. It's got enough stunts or special FX for those who like those things but the plot is really good and the cast is great (Voight, Jean Reno, Kristin Scott Thomas) and doesn't become formulaic like some of the current MI films.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Yeah Reality Bites is the perfect snapshot of Gen X and the 90s. It somehow slipped through the cracks and is rarely acknowledged today.
Timing might have played a role. Maybe it should've happened a few years later.
A TV show that is a perfect snapshot of 90s culture is Party of Five. Yeah it's a tad cheesy and gets a bit ridiculous towards the end but holy shit....they nailed it.
I think it was by design. They have them listening to current music, watching movies, and even little things like closing a locker you'll see an issue of Sports Illustrated with Holyfield-Tyson on the cover.
I love that Mission Impossible. I wish he'd do one more like it before it's over.

I saw that one in the theater. Fond memories of it.
