Floyd had Dark Side of the Moon, wish You Were Here, Animals then The Wall. Animals being the album to break the 4 in a row. Zeppelin’s first 4 is broken by III. Beatles run from Revolver to Abbey Road is broke up by Magical Mystery Tour. The Who only had two with Tommy and Who’s Next.
I actually need to hear Animals again. It's not in my collection.
I noticed you left Fleetwood Mac out of that.

Can stand up against any bands discography.... Stones included.
Yeah there's some filler on the tail end of that run...but it speaks for itself.
There's an alternate universe where that run... especially those last two albums...have zero filler. They were each using killer material for solo albums.
Imagine half of Belladonna and the Mcvie and Buckingham solo hits on Mirage.
That's getting close to Rumours territory.

Back to the topic, for me it would be Sticky Fingers. Multiple classics and an easy listen trhoughout. I like side 2more with all the non hits like Moonlight Mile, Sister Morphine and Dead Flowers.

The stones are the greatest band ever. Today I listened to an Axl interview from 1987. He loved the stones too. Goats Head Soup is killer. Let it Bleed, Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out, Sticky, Exile, Its only RNR, Some Girls, all great!!

I see your point, James, in that none of the individual albums were transcendent, smash sensations that would propel them into the Zeitgeist.
I say this as a non-fan but it almost makes their success more impressive.

The Stones lyrics are brilliant. People can relate to them so well. So many amazing songs
