What I never got an answer on was where they got that logo / cover artwork.
When you say the logo/cover artwork, are you talking about for Chinese Democracy? Where did a leaker share it?

Re: LEAKS THREAD
I remember seeing that, although it was being posted on GNR forums as actual artwork from the album.
It's by an artist named Liu Zheng, from a series of photos called "The Chinese":

Considering what we know of Axl's taste in art from the Red Hand and Grenade booklets, I can totally see him liking this.

Re: LEAKS THREAD
The Chicken Dinner leak mix sounds fan-made to me.
Mendez here seems like that one is legit http://www.mygnrforum.com/topic/217072- … nt=4306991
other guy told me he wasn't really sure. so take it as it is
Excellent work there.
I might add that The Blues leak from 2006 had some different stuff too. It still had some additional drums in the intro and 1st verse. Also, Robin's arpeggio was louder in the mix in the chorus (is it a chorus? the part where he sings "I dont know just what I should do.. "). Obviously, Axl's lyrics at the ending were also different from the album version ("What I tell ya.. just one more failure").
The Rock Band versions of Chinese Democracy and Riad didnt have the synth/stolen sample intro. But the mix is very different because of just how the game deals with the tracks, so Bumblefoot's rhythm guitar in Scraped is obviously louder.
IMO, the thing I dislike in the album is how the mix used Bumblefoot rhythm guitar over the other 4 original guitar layers (assuming Richard recorded some overdubs too in some songs where he's not credited). I mean, I like his work, but its just too prominent - Riad had some great stratocaster-ish rhythm guitar by Robin that got too low in the mix. And of course, the bass is too buried in the mix for all the songs, but specially on Street of Dreams and TWAT.
I could talk about those little details for hours. The Blues last leak was superb in the minor details missing on the album version.
Re: LEAKS THREAD
well that Mendez' analysis is already quite old, but yeah still pretty much relevant.
about the Rock Band ChiDem, I'd like to clear out some confusion with the various releases, please correct me if I'm wrong.
- there was complete ChiDem as playable tracks in Rock Band 2 (that means not complete tracks, just some instruments that could either be played or were used as backing tracks), those were later extracted and the isolated stems come from there
- Rock Band 2 also included Shackler's Revenge as a complete track
- Rock Band 4 later added the rest of the album as complete tracks, but it was pulled a few years ago
or is the story different?
Re: LEAKS THREAD
Shackler's Revenge was announced to be in Rock Band 2 around July 2008 IIRC.
A couple of weeks later, it leaked online under the title Chicken Dinner.
Chinese Democracy was released as DLC in April 2009 after the album came out in November 2008.
It featured the "Red Hand" cover which confused many of us at the time. But it later came out a re-release was planned. Of course that didn't happen.
I have no idea about Rock Band 3 or 4 but I know for one of them you could transfer old DLC songs for a small fee. I don't know if CD was one of them as sometimes certain albums/songs don't carry over for legal reasons.

As far as I know, it's like Wagszilla said. But you could also buy the same tracks to use in Rock Band 3 and 4. So they are the same thing.
