we can agree on that, yes the Ashba era live shows sound was... hard to describe it... probably the closest term is sterile and show-off, and that was definitely DJ's fault. it just was. extremely similar thing to some cover-of-covers-band that keeps playing on night television without any ambitions, just to play something. not that it's much better nowadays, sadly.

Bucket, yeah, but I never thought of Brain as being the drummer on the 2000 Beavan album. I guess in my mind I always put that at 2001.
AFAIK, Brain never contributed to the Beavan album. His tenure with Primus ended in April/May 2000. The Beavan album was in the can and Josh Freese had bailed out. Brain started re-recording drums after the band relocated at Village Studios in late '00. Tom Zutaut showed up in around Feb '01, when they were trying to get the Dave Grohl feel to Brain's take on CD.
