Re: The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread
I always hear Cherry complan about celebration, but I like Ovechkin. You can tell he loves the game, and the team and the competition and the feeling of winning. You can see it in his play too. He always wants to be out there and he goes all-out, which is fun to watch.

Having no prior knowledge of sports, I'm just plain hoping the Wings make it past the Avs.
well the wings won all 4 games vs the avs this year...but colorado picked up some good players at the deadline...and there is a historical playoff rivalry between the 2 teams so it will be a close series to be sure...game one tonight!
Re: The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread
I missed the entire Habs-Flyers game up until the last 2 minutes of the 3rd. Glad I caught that! I heard it was a pretty rough cut game though. But a win's a win and I'll take it.
I didn't get the Habs 2nd goal?? Looked easily like it should have been called high-stick. What's worse, they went to the replay, and it really looked over the goalpost, and they still called it a goal? Also the final penalty, did they call that "Kneeing"?? He didn't even knee him. At least call it roughing or tripping or something.
Oh well, thems the breaks.

The play was originally called a goal and to me it's hard to tell if contact was made while his stick was above the crossbar. It looks like the puck hit when his stick was level with the crossbar (TSN.ca has an angle that shows the play from directly behind the net).
The play was called tripping. When I originally saw it, I thought it would be a kneeing call, but then they showed the ref doing the tripping sign. Kovalev's lucky the play didn't bum his knee though.

I agree with Pas that the overall luck of the game went for the Habs. But that's the way it goes. Very entertaining night, although I was busy through most of it, and hopefully tonight is as good. Go Pens!

How did Lundqvist and the D collapse like that? Up 3-0 and they lost... of all the teams int he playoffs I'd think the Rangers could hold a lead. Either this series is gonna be crazy, or the Rangers will fall apart under this game. It's a heartbreaker for them. Especially with that penalty being a weak call.
