I saw that. Hard to believe its that blatant. Says in his time he NEVER read a patients background, just took the advice of Aetna nurses to approve or deny coverage? In the article it seems to say the attorneys were aghast over his answers. Funny, not all that unheard of. I do some video work & have shot a fair share of depositions. It is possible for lawyers to discover something they weren't expecting, and kinda get sidetracked over it. "Never?" "No", "NEVER???" "No, never" "???".

Do doctors have to? My understanding was just a nurse has to review the claim. That’s why insurance companies hire a bunch of nurses and just one or two doctors.

To approve or deny coverage is different from processing claims.
In all honesty, what does a nurse know about whether something is needing...thinking about mental/behavioral health...
Are nurses really that well trained to be making those decisions?

Seems like whats happening. Although, the doctor answers essentially that he 'never' reviewed a patients records in all his time. A bit concerning I would think, odd if nothing else.

It’s a bigger deal than that in my opinion. It’s just proof that the healthcare system is failing us miserably. What is the doctor’s job then?
