See...you seemed to make a lot a great point there until the last paragraph. I think you just exposed yourself as being pretty biased.

How can you say that the Trump investigation that's been going on for 19 months (really only since Mueller took over imho, what's that been 6-7 months) has turned up nothing but a 5 year investigation into Hillary needs to be escalated into a grand jury situation?

You've had five years to do this...and you cant...you still can't. At the very least that mean you can't prove it...even if your theory is entirely accurate. Some of what you wrote in that last paragraph are assertions that have no proof. It sounds like the rantings and ravings of a Sean Hannity.

Hillary has been investigated exhaustively. Nothing came of it. Because nothing was there. Even when lead entirely by Republican committees (could you imagine if we had an entirely Democrat committee investigating Trump? Please.) it produced nothing more than talking points for the right wing.

Trump's investigation has yielded 3 arrests thus far. One of whom is working with Mueller and is believed to have been taping conversations over the last couple of months. Flynn is on the cusp of being arrested, as is his son. Sessions clearly has committed perjury. Page's testimony shows that Trump's entire team knew about his trips to Russia/Kremlin, was in constant contact with Russia, and was willing to "get dirt" on Hillary in exchange for favorable policies towards Russia.

What we have right now are people who don't read. That's not my problem and it shouldn't be yours either.  I'm not going to waste my time arguing reality with people (we have various testimony, arrests, and records of the Trump admin speaking.)  You either accept what is happening, or you remain in denial.

I do admit at times that my rage for Trump clouds my judgement at times....but honestly, there have only been two types of reactions since this whole thing started. Those that say this is all complete BS (and have been saying it since it started) or those that hang on every detail (like me) probably reading a little bit too far into what this all means.

But there is way more smoke here than there was for the Hilary situation...that much I can say with confidence just for the sole fact that people are actually getting arrested.

I would agree...although it will likely be close...we're talking about the capitol of the confederacy don't forget. The hotbed of Democrat voters is from DC's urban sprawl and spillover.

Hillary didn't win by a ton either.

Interestingly, the last time Virginia voted for a Republican for president was Bush II....prior to that it has voted for the Republican candidate consistently since the early 1960s.

You should all take a look at the 1972 election...how could a major political party put up a candidate that only garners 17 EVs? What a joke.

Republicans got DESTROYED in Virginia tonight.  Northam won by 8pts.  And Democrats won 14(!!) seats in the state house and probably take control of the legislature there. There are still some undeclared winners left out there.

They're getting murdered in the 2018 midterms if the trend keeps up and it more or less ends up being a referendum on  Trump.

Big night for sure.

Hardly a shocker, Trump trashed Gillespie right after his loss...

And there was also this...........

Democrats still can fuck this up; it's no sure thing they win like this in 2018, but Trump is clearly damaged goods. His policies are mostly unpopular, but even moreso his reputation as a racist a-hole has energized the opposition, and that includes those in the GOP party who are not down with being labeled white supremacists.

Yup, it was a strange night honestly...it was a pretty extreme rejection of Trump/Pence. Can we draw any comparisons to 2010 when the tea party rode into power after the Democratic takover of 2008?

The writing is on the wall, and I'd expect Trump to be even more marginalized by even his own party.

Yup...and I feel pretty great about it. Trump was humbled last night...though he'll never admit it. Look how he handled that Republican in Virginia. He endorsed him and then bashed him when he lost. That kind of shit eventually catches up with you.

Pretty much sums up the who deal right there...Trump energized left like no Democrat could...funny how the system works sometimes.

No. Because this wasn’t a mid term and they didn’t win anything they weren’t supposed to. Next year will be the litmus Test. Thousands of elected officials won yesterday. Hand picking 5 or 6 doesn’t make a compelling argument.

Pretending the DNC has created a message that will resonate with voters in a year is dangerous, because it’s important to actually challenge the GOP next year. If people think some mayor in Montana getting elected shows a repudiation of Trump, they’re going to get lazy.

I don’t want that. You don’t want that. All 3 branches of the federal government are controlled by the GOP as are the majority of governors and state legislatures. If that changes, next year, then you can celebrate.

People thought it was a good idea to buck Trump’s candidate to replace Sessions. Except now we have Moore who’s as dangerous a candidate as they come.

Ok fair...but to me it's more about who was elected in Helena...a female Liberain woman who is first generation. Montana is deep red country. The transgender person elected for the first time ever to be elected I believe.

I feel pretty confident saying...at least something very strange happened last night.

Yes, I tried not to draw too many conclusions, but I think there's a clear theme, and it wasn't "If you think, act, and talk like Trump, you'll win elections."

Like I said, this apparent swing to the left can all blow up and the Dems can certainly ruin it somehow.

I think what will be more interesting is how Republicans react.

How are they going to run the midterms? If they base their plan on what happened last night, a lot of them are going to keep their distance from Trump, and that could backfire. Some might think they need to get closer to Trump based on last night, and that could backfire too. Should be fascinating.
