I thought the past season was disappointing...but there are some confounding factors...
First, I'm a Bears fan and they weren't even close to competitive - but even still, I didn't think the quality of the games was terribly good...maybe I'm yearning for a phase of the game in the past. I feel something is off about the game in a way I've never felt before...something that puts too much emphasis on the QB and not enough emphasis on anything else. I don't know...something is off...I look at games from previous decades and I don't even recognize the sport anymore in some ways.
Maybe I'm just getting old and crotchety.
No, it wasn't a banner year for the NFL. There were so many mediocre to bad teams. There were so few really good teams.
I'm a Pats fan and I'm not certain they're really a great team, they may just appear that way compared to the competition. The Falcons defense isn't very good. Every team is flawed in some way. I'd like to think NE will coast on Sunday but every Super Bowl they've been in since 2001 has come down to the wire.

Good point about NE SBs always being close. I never noticed that, just that they're always there & usually win. I think Belichek will just gameplan well for it, and win. Unless ATL's offense is on fire & gets a good break or two.
Mitch I agree with the season, it's been bad. I'm an Eagles fan so I knew I'd be taking the year off, I was ok with them, no complaints. Some people here were irate over it, the coach & GM. I missed some games but by the time I tuned in late in the season, I dunno, I barely could get into them. IMHO it's instant replay & commercials. It's too much. Years ago they'd play thru it, with no time to complain or gripe. Now it's a TV timeout & 3 minutes of viagra ads and Buffalo Wild Wings & Verizon ads. It interupts the attention span. With cell phones we get easily distracted and I don't think Football works as well with those interruptions.
You make a good point about the game being geared around the QB tho. I think defensive penalties to CB's against the WR likely contributed to that too. They can barely touch them or it's pass interference. That's gotten weak, they need to get it back to RBs running the ball up the gut a bit more.

Embrace the hate. You know your team is good when they evoke such strong emotions. There was a time not too long ago that the Patriots were pretty terrible. It makes this 15 year run sweeter. Let's keep it going!

Whatever gets you through the night. I've enjoyed every Super Bowl win so far, hoping for another tomorrow night. Looking forward to hearing the excuses for the Patriots success this season or how they cheated this time around.

Definitely a dynasty (duh!). What the Bulls did in the 90s was greater. But the Pats might be the best football dynasty of all time. Them or the 49ers of the 80s-90s. I think Belicheck might be the best FB coach of all time. Myb Bill Walsh but I dunno, Belicheck has been darn good. I hate the fucker, but damn if you wouldn't want him or Brady on your team.
