Re: Buckethead 2017 tour
Saw Bucket yesterday in DC. One of my friends canceled; but still helped with transportation. It was a fun show. He was on his A-game. The Gene Wilder tribute was really sweet. He teased the nun-chucks for a few seconds; but it wasn't a full part of the set. Had to deal with some stupid kids in the crowd and the venue was really prissy and uptight. Here are some photos. Hope you all enjoy!

Re: Buckethead 2017 tour
What was the set list like? How long did he play?
The set list was a mix of different material. I know he played Jump Man, Jordan, Soothsayer, and all that. He did a Gene Wilder tribute, the gift bag thing which caused everyone to cut in line (of course!). I didn't pay attention too much to the set since I was just enjoying the performance plus it was a long day even before the concert. I was worn out after I got home. He played for about an hour and a half. The show was supposed to start at 8 and he didn't arrive on stage until 8:40ish. It wasn't a huge crowd and I got a great view of the show overall.
Re: Buckethead 2017 tour
I assembled a list of my favorite Buckethead albums awhile ago.
Here's the Top 10.
Population Override
Electric Sea
Electric Tears
Giant Robot
Colma
Transmutation (Praxis)
Monsters and Robots
Crime Slunk Scene
The Return of Captain EO
Elephant Man’s Alarm Clock
As you will see, I'm drawn to his more relaxed, melodic stuff.

Re: Buckethead 2017 tour
Captain Eo's Voyage is my favorite. Giant Robot NTT is a close second. Population Override is right up there too. As is Thanatopsis: Axiology. Damn, he's got so much good stuff.
that giant robot ntt album is unreal. quintessential bucket. you get a bit of everything here that makes him so great & versatile. the beautiful, melodic soloing in "mrs beasley" and "scraps". the funky, chaotic jamming in "chicken boy". the crunchy as shit riffing in "well, well, well" and "jowls". you even get some of his death cube k type stuff on "the void".
brain fuckin' kills it here, too. him and bucket are one of my favorite guitar/drummer combos of all time. they have amazing, natural chemistry and compliment each other so well. i can probably single-handedly account for half the views on this jam:
"binge buddies" is another gem on this record -- absolutely love brain's feel on it. axl really could have done something special with these 2 fuckers in his band. such a shame he didn't capitalize on it.
but whatever.
gotta say i love all the movie samples sprinkled throughout this album. you have to give bucket credit on his taste in movies. we get bits of texas chainsaw massacre, enter the dragon, and clockwork orange here. if only they could have cleared those... it's unfortunate that caused this to never get the release or attention it deserves.
