well good luck man! i have a bit of a leg up cuz i work in an architect firm so there was many a house that we basiaclly walked in and i said "no way" and a few that after 10-15 minutes i wasnt interested in
i just knew what i wanted to see and what i didnt wanna see...i was more about structure and big ticket items like furnace and roof..... cosmetic stuff is nothing, its the big things (like mold) that you dont want...and its a big deal to get rid of mold (lots of $$$) its good you walked away from that other place

Right now we're just at the mercy of the bank on the offer we have in.
yeah that sucks 
but when the country's in such an economic state they will make sure for sure...thats how alot of institions got fucked in the states,...they knew an economic crunch was coming yet tehy gave mortgages to people in financial distress anyway...not it fucks over people who can afford it today 
up here there is a lot of forclosures too....but we avoided those properties cuz to the appraiser your just a number and the house is just a property that the appraiser has never seen before
when you buy off a person its different...you can negotiate

Congradulations Neemo! I don't know why but I've always liked a house with an attic. Your home seems very much "Norman Rockwell" in nature. Looks nice on the inside too (well...all but the pink carpet, lol). So fess up...the basement is yours and the rest is pretty much the girls'...right?

haha my wife wants my guitars in the basemnt....we're still in negotiations though
but no, none of the rooms are mine....the kids toys are going in the basement if i'm lucky i may get the pool shed to call my own otherwise i'll have to settle for under the back porch
