Re: 2016 Presidential Election Thread
Stats can be manipulated to say whatever you want them to say. The recovery had already started when he took over, but economic statistics always lag. The problem is that people don't understand anything other than what they are told, which is often wrong.
The unemployment numbers are way, way off. They changed the rules halfway through to make them look good. Things are getting better now finally, but they were awful most of his presidency. Awful.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election Thread
Buzzsaw is dead on.
Obama had no where to go but up honestly. However bush didn't cause the fucking recession. That was a culmination of years of lending practices dating back to 1995 under Clinton. Also look what Bush walked in to, a tech bubble crash, slow home sales, and 9 months in 911 happens. Under Obama red lines have been broken, Isis has spread, Russia is wild, Iran is closer than ever to getting a nuke, blacks are poorer, more people on food stamps, black home ownership is down, etc. Obama has been no better than Bush AND has been much more divisive than Bush ever was.
Re: 2016 Presidential Election Thread
Let's pretend for a second that all of that is 100% accurate. How does it make sense that unemployment is down, job and job openings are up, and things like food stamps are up? The only way that makes sense is if people are underemployed and all the jobs being created are shitty jobs. I'd love to hear another explanation that makes sense.

Getting better?? John McCain wanted to suspend his campaign in October 08 due to an economic catastrophe. Unprecedented.
Jan/Feb of 09 was the bottom of the collapse. That's like saying taking over the 0-16 Detroit Lions for a coach was easy because 'things were getting better'.
Re: 2016 Presidential Election Thread
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Let me get this straight, Obama is only responsible for everything that is wrong, and gets zero credit for anything that's good. Totally unbiased.
SG, we would have been devastated if McCain was president, it was not only one way but up, because they opposed the stimulus package that worked....

The economy didn't bounce back until 2009 AFTER the stimulus was passed, Obama's bill, which the republicans opposed, along with opposing the auto bailout that saved those jobs. Fact check is non partisan.
SG, George Bush the FIRST got the ball rolling with his deregulation. Bush was at the wheel before and during the collapse, so why does he not get ANY blame?? He kept running up deficits, while cutting taxes that could not be sustained while spending more with the war, plus his deregulation. How the fuck does he get no blame? He and the republicans were chopping, choping and chopping away at the economy yet tried to plant the ax on Obama. That old dog ain't gonna hunt.

Glad you asked.
Job Growth - Obama has been criticized for not reducing unemployment enough. However, he can't force businesses to hire. Corporations have had record earnings, and are sitting on mountains of cash. They are using those funds to pay out dividends and buy up their stocks. The problem is insufficient consumer demand. Businesses won't hire until they are more confident demand is sustainable. Obama submitted the Americans Jobs Act in September 2011. It was criticized for having the same elements as the Stimulus Act, even though those policies worked.
The majority of people on food stamps are people with jobs. No one wants to raise the minimum wage, and the biggest culprit, with the most employees using food stamps than any other business in the United States is Wall Mart.

Dude, no one is defending the democrats role, you guys are completely denying Bush and the republicans role. You're literally ignoring nearly eight years of this brewing on THEIR watch. Bush had the house AND senate, plus his veto power.

I am saying the wheels were in motion for this shit and it really started in the late 70's... But the democrats are every bit as complicit as Bush was for the 08 recession. Bush's biggest fuck up was the Iraq War.

Bush was fucking up the economy besides the war with his pork barrel projects and tax cuts. Clinton had a surplus in Social Security, it was solvent, and Bush raided entitlements of trillions to "try" and pay for his tax cuts.

So you're confirming exactly what I said. Thank you.
