Re: The Black Crowes

I guess I thought this Luther Dickinson would be more of a Marc Ford type than another rhythm player. Thumbs down so far.
I agree thus far. My second listen was better then the first, but you used a great word: underwhelmed. I really dig the first track/single and I think that it's slightly extended on the album. I didn't like Lions the first time I heard it but I liked it more then this if I remember right.
Pretty well agree as well, but it's not bad. I actually think it's better than Lions so far myself, but I was pretty underwhelmed by that too.
Also, since nugdafied mentioned Marc Ford, has anybody else heard his solo stuff? I saw him last summer and it was cool, but quite a bit more jam-bandy than the Crowes usually get(actually I guess kinda similiar to Warpaint). You can hear some stuff at his website http://www.marcford.net/ if anybody's interested.
Re: The Black Crowes
The Pulse of Radio reports that the BLACK CROWES have announced an extensive tour that will keep them on the road through the end of the year. They've lined up a few dates in April and May and will then kick off the Euphoria or Bust Tour on June 27 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Also on their itinerary are two gigs with the DAVE MATTHEWS BAND and a pair of New York City all-acoustic shows. The group will eventually winding down with a five-night stand at the Fillmore in San Francisco this December. The outing is expected to expand to a total of 90 cities.
Tickets for the first leg of dates go on sale beginning May 2. There are also "midnight pre-sales," which will be available at the BLACK CROWES' web site a week before the public on-sale.
The BLACK CROWES plan to play older material, as well as songs from their first new studio album in seven years, "Warpaint", which features the single "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution".

Re: The Black Crowes
I'll be doing the Penn's Peak show for sure - it's only about an hour away on the turnpike.
I'd LOVE to do the three night run in Philly, but I don't have the cash to swing it this time around.

Re: The Black Crowes
Saw them last Sunday - great show as always! The set list was a little too vanilla for my liking, but the performance made up for it. The new jam during "Thorn In My Pride" was just mind-blowing. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that it may have been the coolest thing that I've ever heard in my life.
Also, for those that aren't too familiar with the band, they're starting to release all of their archive recordings from the vaults, in perfect soundboard quality at www.liveblackcrowes.com - some real gems are up already!
