Re: Guns N' Roses to headline Glastonbury 2017?
Guns N Roses to headline Glastonbury 2017? Band are early favourites alongside Radiohead and Rihanna
This year's Glastonbury has only just drawn to a close but already bookies' are predicting the next line up.
So far, Guns N' Roses are the frontrunners, with Axl Rose and Slash getting back together after 12 years for a series of gigs in America - but UK dates have yet to be announced.
Alongside the Los Angeles group, other early favourites include Radiohead - who failed to show at this year's event despite rumours - and Rihanna.
Meanwhile Manchester band The Stone Roses have also been listed to play next year.
The Fools Gold foursome are among the favourites to headline Glastonbury 2017 and while they've never headlined the famous Pyramid stage at the Somerset festival before - they have come close.
Ian Brown and co were scheduled to play at Worthy Farm in 1995 but were forced to pull out just a week before the festival and were replaced by Pulp.
That year, Mancunian rivals Oasis and The Cure headlined the main stage.
Also among the names scouted for next year's festival, which ended with a spectacular set from Coldplay that included a tribute to Viola Beach on Sunday , are Red hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters and Kasabian.
William Hill’s full list of odds to headline any night at Glastonbury 2017 are:
Guns N’ Roses (8/11)
Kasabian (5/4)
Radiohead, The Stone Roses (2/1)
Foo Fighters (3/1)
Ed Sheeran (4/1)
Manic Street Preachers (5/1)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (6/1)
Rihanna (7/1)
Bruce Springsteen, Calvin Harris, Mumford And Sons (8/1)
Re: Guns N' Roses to headline Glastonbury 2017?
The mirror is almost always full of shit. It's one of the tabloid/sensationalist, credibility free publications I've been referring to lately in the other section.
That said, Guns are probably better off in front of a Glastonbury crowd compared to Download or the NME kids at Reading/Leeds.
Re: Guns N' Roses to headline Glastonbury 2017?
Yeah I know its not the most reliable but tabloids sometimes do break news.
My prayers for an Elastica reunion are dying and literally hinge on two things....
Axl, Slash, or Duff being huge fans(they never mentioned them though) and offering Justine and co. a nice payday to open any UK dates in the future.
One of those festivals throwing huge chunks of cash at them to do one show. If memory serves me correctly, they were banned from one of them(maybe this one) so the chances are slim.
Justine considers the window painted shut but I'm sure money could pry it open for one night.

Christ, I hope not. I want some proper UK dates after all this waiting, not a truncated festival set. And certainly not in fucking Glastonbury.

Yeah, I still remember the press release wherein Axl cancelled Rock in Rio Lisbon because Slash quit.
(Make that 20 years of abstinence.)

He blamed everything on Buckethead but later blamed Merck for causing him to blame it all on Buckethead.
I believed him. Merck was NOT the right person for the job.
Fucking Merck. If not for him we would've got the 2006 tour with Buckethead, and things would've unfolded very differently indeed.

There's more chance of me headlining Glastonbury than Michael Eavis giving Guns the gig.

^ I'll take that bet
Now that Glastonbury is every year they're always going to be after fresh headliners who've not played there before to stop it going stale.
I could see GNR being a distinct possibility especially if they're in Europe/UK next summer which seems likely. If good reviews keep flowing from these shows in the States there's every chance imo. The bookies have them favourites for a reason.
