Re: Official - No Reality Show
Good news.
Fuels the fire that they dont know what robin is planning huh.
Like given how much bad press there always is about the 'revolving door' it would be so easy and benificial to print a one line confirmation that he is still in the band. Except maybe they don't know if he is.
And maybe Robin doesn't know if he will be, he's just trying to bluff his way into doing a NIN tour while Axl is in limbo...will he get away with that gamble or will he be forced to choose...find out in 2009 folks!

Good one.
Sadly, its probably the truth.
I know people in GNR communities seem to hate the word "owed", but I think Finck owes the fanbase an explanation on whats going on, at least from his standpoint. Not just GNR fans, but for the portion of NIN fans who really liked him during his tenure in that band.
I have always had some respect for Finck with how he has handled the CD saga. If he ignores his supporters now at this crucial stage, that respect will be vaporized.
Its time for all these guys to grow a spine. If you opening your mouth is cause for internal strife in the GNR camp, then your presence in the band was never held in high regard.
This isn't some black ops project channeled through the CIA. Its a fucking album attempted by rotating lineups.
Re: Official - No Reality Show
About as useful as the verbose Axl statement about GNR not being in Live Earth. That event was never announced, never mentioned as a rumor in the mainstream press outlets. All who knew about were the people in the forums. Then the announcement hits the official website and the most common reaction amongst most people, after the slightly confused amusent, was "So what?".
While they're at it, howabout saying 'despite rumors to the contrary, there are no tour dates or album release planned for this year'?

That would be just TOO informative now wouldn't it??
Anyone have any thought as to why this story keeps getting removed from HTGHT?
To be honest, it's been "official" for a while that no reality show is coming... Jarmo's been saying it since the rumour started. The rest of the stuff in the original article was never proven false... Nor was it deemed false that the Axl was approached to do a reality show.
I guess it just keeps getting removed over there because the original thread was locked right away.

Aye, that be true.
It's not a stretch to imagine a GNR reality show was pitched within a network/production company, and the concept was met favorably enough to approach Axl and his management with the idea. Given that Axl seemingly wants to keep a veil of secrecy over every significant thing he's actually doing, the word trickling out did no favors to the people who were coaxing him to agree.
Then again, their line is that a reality TV programme (which, signed or not, is basically good publicity) is more worthy of comment than the Robin situation (which is getting out of hand on the boards, if not elsewhere). I wouldn't expect them to put anything on the NIN tour to the official website, but they could at least comment through Jarmo/Beta/whomever.
Just goes on to say on what matters they have a clear idea.

Re: Official - No Reality Show
Maybe robin says nothing so he can play both sides.
If we're assuming for a second the theory that he did go the "gamble" approach. That is, that he didn't quit the band, or tell GNR, and is operating on the hope/chance/strong possibility that he can fit in an entire NIN tour while GNR is in dead/dealing/legal/silent mode. IF he did that - then at the moment a conflict of interest is a non-issue - if GNR got its act together while he is still on tour - then he could decide what to do THEN or for that matter might always plan to go back to GNR...but..
But he can't give a statment reassuring fans now...or it would TIP his hand to Trent...who might think he is back for as long as needed regardless of GNR and Axl. And he could wind up kicked from NIN - which would suck if it turned out GNR was indeed dead the whole time. Or he can't give a pro NIN statement over GNR - or he'll anger Axl who might kick him or intepret him as leaving GNR...and then he'd be needlessly quitting GNR to do a tour he could have fitted in before GNR go active in 2010 or whatever anyway. So if your him you shut the fuck up and try and do both! And worry about affiliations and loyality if and when he is forced to choose, which only happens if whatever holds up CD is ever fixed.
Just a theory!
