I was just in a car accident about 2 hours ago in front of my house. My car is totaled. This douche bag tried passing me and this SUV behind me as I was turning into my driveway. He had to be doing 60 or 70. He clipped the front side of my car. I flew into the other lane while he rolled over and landed upside down. Firemen had to get him out of his car. Come to find out, he was trying to get to Starbucks in Patterson. I let him use my phone to call his girlfriend. It was surreal. Guy hanging upside down in his car because he needed to have a cup of coffee and couldn't wait.
I think I have mild whiplash as my head hurts a bit. So does my leg but I'm not going to the hospital. His arm was bleeding but I don't think he had any broken bones.
Had he waited one more second he would have hit me on my drivers side door and I'd be on my way to the morgue instead of bitching about it.

If he was texting I'm going to be pissed off. Well...more pissed than I already am. I even told the highway patrol they better check that guy's phone activity.
About 20 minutes after it happened I thought of that discussion we were having here a couple days ago about people being glued to their phones. Who knew at the time I'd almost become one of those statistics less than 48 hours later. Crazy world. A few years ago I was almost killed by some woman in an SUV. She was arguing with her boyfriend over the phone. I was at a red light. A nanosecond before plowing into me she decided to hit that pole instead. That instantaneous decision saved my life. I made a joke at the time about how doesn't that bitch know I'm waiting for CD II. 
This asshole needs to know I'm waiting for my reunion show...
My car being totaled isn't really that big of a deal. That's what insurance is for....its the wait between now and then that will suck.

That's taking the whole "most accidents happen within 5 miles of home" to an extreme.
Glad you're okay ultimately. Sucks to go through all the nonsense, not to mention being shaken up, injured, etc. But, at least it's better than the alternative. Live to tell brother.

See near misses like this so often these days in fact saw something very similar just yesterday - a guy came up the outside to turn right, tried to pass 3 of us who were going on straight but of course there was another guy ahead trying turning off that the guy overtaking hadn't seen. They just managed to miss each other all because of some aggressive idiot, and of course there's traffic coming in the other direction too. Was just crazy, couldn't understand what he was thinking except he was a dick/moron. Some people are just absolutely dense/utterly selfish with no regard for anyone else.
Aye the car being totalled in these occasions is a minor concern. At least you're able to walk away.
