I did some digging and found Fortus' first band and 2 You Tube links.

I was curious to find the roots of Fortus. Where Slash has always been Slash, Fortus' first band was much different. An alternative band. Fortus was a guitar puncher then like he is today. But with a much different look. I didn't recognize him at first. I think that is because his shirt was on, lol

I think they were going for an INXS sound.  I think the 2 songs are decent but was released in an era where many bands had a similar sound.

After this he joins the Psyadelic Furs then joins Guns.

Does sound a bit like INXS.

I really like fortus take on the James Bond theme.

And he also has some good solos in Dead Daisies (although the songs overall are a bit bland).

He's a good player - him and Slash going forward is a great idea.

Well, uh... he's definitely come a long way.

Yes... He seems to have morphed into his current sound and style where as Slash has been Slash since day one. That is what I respect so much about Slash. He was basically born the way he is. Fortus evolved into his current style and sound. Both are fine. Just noticing the difference. If Fortus was in another band he may look and play totally different. Where as Slash will still be Slash.  I think Fortus clearly has kept improving over the years but maybe the early style didn't allow him to play the style he always wanted to. Either way, pretty cool to see. This was from 1992. During the heights of GNR mania.
