Re: Guns N' Roses Legend of the Red Panda...shock vinyl release?!?

What's next....HUlk Hogan announcing an ABBA reunion?
Given Hogan's history for tall tales don't be surprised if he says he was considering taking the AC/DC gig.
He was once claimed he turned down the opportunity to play in Metallica. I'm not joking.
Always got a chuckle out of this Hogan vid.....like did they really think even kids would believe he's really playing the guitar in this song?
Sullivan had one of greatest personas ever.
It was ahead of its time. Georgia, NWA,etc. weren't sure what to do with him. It got mixed reactions. In a way it fit in with the cartoonish aspect of 80s wrestling but on the other hand...it didn't.
Re: Guns N' Roses Legend of the Red Panda...shock vinyl release?!?
I think his booking isn't as bad as it's made out
Just to clarify. He was head booker until just before they were bought out.
Eddie, Dean, Perry and Chris (although Chris for different reasons) all quit the day after he got made head booker. Chris was the WCW champion when he showed up on WWF Raw.
That show was a cluster fuck and remember Hogan wasn't even around for most of it, Sting was injured for a lot of it. A lot of the egos weren't around. It was just him and Russo steering it into the depths of hell.
Even the mess that WWE has now is like the gory days compared to WCW 2000/2001.

Satanism never quite fit in with WWF cartoon wrestling.
Mid 80s-early 90s NWA was so much better than WWF. I had a friend when I was like 8 who loved WWF but had never seen NWA, so he came over one day and we watched Terry Funk obliterate a guy with a branding iron he was totally horrified. Great stuff. Ric Flair was the best bleeder in the business. I remember matches in NWA where the ring was literally covered in blood. Awesome stuff.

But there was no new talent and that wasn't his fault. They never had a Punk or Bryant. Another reason it sucks there is no WCW today.

I preferred NWA as well. My grandpa hated WWF...wouldn't touch it.
Did you watch WWF during that short period of time they were filming in the Atlanta studio that NWA used from late 84-88? It's bizarre in hindsight. Gave the WWF that regional feel even though it was going national and totally mainstream at that point.
You guys obviously kept watching wrestling longer than I did. Sullivan ever make a reference to GNR? Wear a shirt? Song as his intro? Something?

Here's a sample INCOMPLETE list of some of the names he worked with at the time. Obviously excluding Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko who all quit as soon as he got promoted to head booker.
