Re: Watching Welcome to the Videos
My God, this shit kicks so much ass. Coolest most badass band ever. Paradise City video is the greatest representation of this band ever and watching the crowd, very badass (yes I know, sad about the death at donnington). Anyway back to my point. The picture is AMAZING! This DVD is played on my blue ray player. The live concert footage from the UYI era must have been shot on really good film. Looks pristine! Hope for the Perfect Crime Bluray! These videos have aged well! The band still looks cool as fuck.

Re: Watching Welcome to the Videos
I haven't had this in many years. As you know I avoided all things old GNR during the CD era. I should pick it up. Watching a ranmdom video here and there on youtube isn't the same thing.
Is the release of Lies the only reason we didn't get a Nightrain video? It was a single, played on radio a lot, yet never got a video. They also could have squeezed a couple more singles out of Lies. They were such a huge craze at the time that neither album had to be milked of its singles. Funny in hindsight how in 89 the PC video is being played every hour as if Lies has been abandoned completely even though it was still on the charts.

There are so many great songs on that album and it's a shame that a lot of the casual audience is only aware of the Big 3 (obviously there are many millions out there who own the album). I wish songs like Brownstone, Rocket Queen, and Nightrain got more of a push from the label. Every one of those is strong enough to make a claim for the throne of best GN'R song.
The last 3 minutes of Rocket Queen...holy motherfucking shit. Everything about that is just perfect and it's probably the greatest album ender in rock history (along with Jungle as the greatest opener). Brownstone...the Bo Diddley beat has never been done better than that song and the sound of this one separates GN'R from every other 80's rock band. No one else sounded like those killer riffs, that punky bass, those groovy drums, and that unbelievable fucking voice. Nightrain is just a great example of kickass rock and roll. It would have been a heavily pushed single by a band like AC/DC for sure.
Re: Watching Welcome to the Videos
They were going to release It's so Easy as a video. But I think that got pulled because Axl had the spousal abuse problems with Erin and the footage of her in bondage etc in the video was not a good look given that backdrop. Obviously you can get bootleg copies.
I agree about Nightrain that would have been a great single to push more with a video.

Anybody remember when Axl was in that litigation with Erin in the mid-90's and tried to buy up ALL tapes that existed of that It's So Easy video to keep them from evidence, and destroyed them all.
Only for them to survive and be on YouTube and Erin coming to GN'R shows with friend, and being friends with Slash on FB.
Wonder how many sleepless nights and money Axl wasted on that?

I always thought it was just me who loved that song ending so much, its just the most perfect piece of rock music ever, its sincerity and warmth after the song that came before it is like sunshine after rain. Its what I hope to hear again from the reunion, the effortless perfection of riffs, tones, lyrics, vocals and band groove.

Re: Watching Welcome to the Videos
I think I have that on DVD somewhere but with Amazon, Apple TV, Netflix, Youtube, I watch everything digital now.
Didn't they leave YCBM off that release? Was a shame because it was a cool video.
last week I watched the Making Fucking Videos trilogy. Such a crazy blast from the past. They are on youtube. You could tell Slash wanted almost no part of being involved in the documentary process during the first two.
