Re: The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread
The Wings will get stomped by San Jose or Anaheim in my opinion and don't count out Colorado. 8 wins 1 loss with Forsberg in the lineup. If he can stay healthy they're a real threat. The dude's got like 11 points in his last 5 games. He's unreal. Plus Theodore's resurgence has been insane.
Go Habs Go.
Re: The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread
Oilers won last night, eliminating the Canucks from contention. Vancouver fans must be very disappointed with this team. At the beginning of the year, they were being touted as cup favourites, and now they aren't even going to the post-season.
Ottawa laid a whoopin' on the Leafs last night. Too bad they lost Alfie in the process. Don't know how long he's out. And Begin's hit in the Montreal-Buffalo game should get him a suspension, even though there was no penalty. Something about putting your hand on the back of a player's head and ramming him into the glass that doesn't sit right.

Re: The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread
Nice to see that Washington controls its own destiny now... I hope they get in because AO deserves to be MVP this year and Boudreau deserves the Jack Adams... both are moot if the team doesn't make the playoffs. All they need is a point against Florida.
Looks like the only way my dream first round match-up (Montreal vs. Boston) will happen is if Philly beats Pittsburgh, Montreal loses to Toronto, and Boston loses to Buffalo. Of course a Montreal vs. Ottawa series would be fine too if the Sens are still struggling. Alfie and Fisher won't be playing the first round, so that's a huge blow for them. Montreal needs Komisarek back though! I think he'll be playoff ready. Go Habs!

if pittsburgh wins youre golden
If Philly wins they go to 7th, Pittsburgh stays 2nd, Montreal stays first and Boston's in 8th. Either way, it looks good! Another first round series vs. Boston!! Only problem could come from Philly losing in OT or shootout. Not sure how that would affect the standings as Philly and Boston would be tied in points and wins... does it go to the season series then or goals for?
Unless Detroit scores 9 tomorrow, Montreal will lead the league in goals for. Shows how balanced the scoring is when the leading lamplighter has 35 goals and your team has 262 goals. I don't think anyone under any circumstances would have predicted Montreal having the highest goals for at the beginning of the season.
Re: The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread
WASHINGTON fuckign won! they are hot man...
The Capitals needed only 4 1/2 months to go from worst in the NHL to Southeast Division champions. Washington snagged its first post-season berth since 2003 - and put their Russian superstar in hockey's showcase tournament for the first time.
Huet, a late-season acquisition like Fedorov, made 25 saves to win his ninth straight start and earned chants of ``Hip, hip, Hu-et!''
hahahahahaha hip, hip, huet!
so playoff scenarios in the east
Pit wins
Pit vs Phi
Mtl vs Bos
Wsh vs Ott
NJ vs. NYR
Phi Wins
Mtl vs Bos
Pit vs Ott
Wsh vs Phi
NJ vs. NYR
bos has the head to head vs phi so philly has to win to move up
and if NYR can win in regulation tommorrow they get home ice against NJ
Re: The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread
I'm saying that Ovechkin will definitely get the MVP and that Boudreau will likely get the Jack Adams now. What both these guys did with the team was pretty special. And kudos to McPhee for a great deadline. Fedorov has been great there, and Cooke has shone at times. Meanwhile, Huet has been spectacular, though you gotta feel for Kolzig. He's stuck with the team through the worst years and was consistently a great goalie for so long and now that they've finally got a good team in front of him, he's relegated to back up. Huet's a better goalie though! It would be interesting to see an eventual Habs-Caps series and have Price and Huet head to head.
