Re: Matchmaker who finds new members for bands (Has worked for Guns)
Having said that, what's Squires involvement if any CD related?
He delivered photos of would-be candidates, which were then scrutinized by Yoda?
Besides that, there's simply the fact that some guys (Robin, Brain) are hand-picked.
With some, there's a good deal of auditions before them (Bumble, DJ, Josh Freese).
Richie Kotzen from Poison auditioned before DJ, I think.
All in a day's work, really. You need to play with the new people to know what they'd bring to the table.

Yes, Tommy and Richard brought him in. Apparently he didn't even properly talk to Axl until after his first show...
That is such a bizarre situation, given that at least part of what makes music work is chemistry. It's reminiscent of Chuck Berry and his local backing bands.

Out of the top of my head,
Josh Freese brought in
Tommy
Robin brought in
Sean Beavan
Jonathan Rach ('06 video guy)
Bucket brought in
Brain
Pete Scaturro (co-writer)
Eric Caudieux (Protools) brought in (via Satriani)
Bumblefoot
Richard/Tommy brought in
Frank

But from Brain's story, Tommy was the one who ok'd him for the gig...Bucket brought him but Tommy vetted him. Tommy knew Richard as well before Richard joined so I am sure he had some say in that decision.
Yes, Tommy is the one who suggested Richard in the first place
