Re: GnREvolution Chinese Democracy Elimination 2015 - Round 11
I think it says a lot when IRS which is nothing more than a fairly generic rocker with a cool scream and nice guitar noodle at the end makes it, rightly, to the final 5.

Yes it does.
I also think they were bat shit crazy for that cease and desist crap when this song was gaining a bit of momentum on some rock charts in 2006 during their tour.
edit: They were also crazy for pulling the plug on the Trunk radio broadcast of the song in 2003. That was major news. They couldn't have begged for more publicity than that. Song had two legit chances during the CD saga.
Better til its gone.
Re: GnREvolution Chinese Democracy Elimination 2015 - Round 11
I like all the tracks remaining to different extents. Even though Better and I.R.S. aren't my very favorite tracks in the discography, I think they're getting some unfair hate. The media and casuals liked them initially, they were just released several years too late.
Apparently in the UK this was released as a single in Jan 2009 (Even though there's a good chance you never would have known) after being played on rock stations years before. That says it all.

Yep. IRS with a B side should have been rush released in 03 to capitalize off the buzz. Same in 2006. Never understood their reluctance to such a move. Maybe Axl/the label still had the sour taste of OMG but the difference between OMG and IRS is people wanted to hear IRS.
That's funny that it was released as a single in 09. How did that fly under the radar?

Amazing that IRS aired on the Trunk show and nobody managed to get a decent copy of it. You remember that horrible recording that was floating around? Like it was taped with a Nokia on the other side of the room.

It only aired once. No one expected it. Huge buzz occurs. GNR lawyers kill buzz. End of story.

Where's Biff Tannen when you need him?
