Re: Clinical exploration and anesthesists

Yesterday, i met the anesthesist who will induce me into sleep for an exploration i have to do next friday.

He told me, after seeing and understanding my fears ( not of the exploration itself but the fear of what can be found), that once, he had a patient who was so nervous and pessimistic that the man develloped unknown complications and had to be ressuscitated.

He also told me to try and find a way to be positive and to calm down.

Now, i have a question for people:

Do you think that what he said is often proved to be right ?

Can the state of nerves bring one to make health matters that worse?

Proof is hard to come by in these matters.

But that a bad state of mind can cause you some problems when you visit your subconscious seems reasonable enough to me.

Depression and negativity can definitely deteriorate your health.

Stress and anxiety are two of the biggest health issues today.  They cause or contribute to the detriment of almost every medical condition known.  Of course, I don't think the doctor should've said what he did because now you'll be anxious about being anxious.

Indeed, my mothers is a prime example.

She has a rare eye condition called Blephrospasms and she has to get a mixture of botcholism shot into her eyelids every 3 to 4 months to keep them open.   Doctors said this was completely brought on by stress.     Ever get a eye twitch when you've been stressed out, this is like 1000 times worse.

Stress releases adrenaline which suppresses your immune system, hence existing conditions can become worse and/or you become more likely to develop other illnesses.  I'm talking long-term stress.
