Re: Billy Corgan wants to work with Axl
Cool quotes.
The thing that gets me, back in the day all the alternative rock bands that supposedly hated GN'R are now coming out admitting they're fans. From Pearl Jam to Janes Addiction to Billy Corgan.
Everybody always knew they were. I think alot of them were just confused by Axl. I think in hind-sight it makes perfect sense. Axl was the full-embodiment of what Kurt would've been, had he finally embraced his rock star status. The same brooding, mis-understood guy, wants to party some days, wants to cry others, wants to destroy the next, wants to commit suicide the next, the big difference was the party thing, and acceptance of society. I don't think Axl became THAT guy until the business disillusioned him. The grunge/alt guys were already disillusioned and commenting on that, something it took Axl awhile to get to imo.
But yeah, I think Vedder & McCready are fans, Corgan, Janes Addiction has been there for awhile, Cornell came out and admitted that they took shit but were totally jealous and stoked to be on that tour with GN'R and were disappointed how it turned out, all of Alice In Chains had been fans for years so much to building their band off of GN'R (Alice N' Chainz), and there was a pretty strong rumor and I could swear a news article where Courtney admitted Kurt had a copy of AFD secretly, and was a fan initially, but would never admit to it.
I think GN'R had a FAR bigger influence on that era, and of course later on, than they were ever given credit for, because Axl decided to take them into the opposite direction, and instead of the AFD band recording their Facelift/Nevermind in 1991, they turned around and tried to become the 1974-76 Stones.

Cobain was a piece of shit. Appetite is one of the best rock records ever, period. To trash the band that made it is pathetic. That album has held up amazingly well over time, arguably better than any of Nirvana's work.
