I just don't understand how a man like Axl with so much talent could let himself slip so easily into complacency.
I'm not sure it's actually complacency as such, my guess is behind the scenes there's a struggle to even do what they do.
Like i said in the other thread, I'd guess the advent of the internet didn't exactly help Axl's previous history of seeking out what was said about him in public then being derailed by negativity, and while the change to being the sole commander of GNR gives him job security, it doesn't exactly sit easily with his character traits of being behind time - extensive analysis and changes in heart and so on.
Back when GNR was productive, all Axl had to do was the vocals and he took ages and layered out amazing deep tracks doing that. But now every lawsuit, every decision, every drum hit, every guitar tone, every person who rippes off the trademark, every licensing choice and so on...it's all Axl's problem and Axl's problem alone.....
I think he needed to do what he did for survival, but I also think it's almost too much for him...and that's why things don't happen.
Also creatively...Axl seems to write about his personal life....so when he was in love relationships, or earlier when he was a street rat...that leads to amazing works...but now his day to day life is consumed with business stuff...it probably doesn't help him write songs either....
I wish there was a way the organisation could be run by someone else he trusted, and Axl could just focus on those things he does so well, like writing melodies, capturing the human emotion and condition and that stuff....but it doesn't seem to be possible.
Anyway, I'm just saying, I don't think it's that he's lazy - I think he just hits a wall mentally in terms of getting shit done.
Just my guess.
As for this statement...what does it mean...we know those products exist...so does it mean they're not sure when legal/label issues will be resolved or that they no longer plan to issue them or what....appreciate an update generally but I wish it could be less cryptic.

I have an audio source but it's still crowd shot (audience talking/singing) and I suspect it's actually a rip from that video....
It's a such a beautiful version of the song....wish there was a studio....it's just magic when Axl hits those high parts....

Interesting...labels do have their moments....I'd love to know more about that one though...how long had she been waiting for a release date I wonder.....
I wish Axl could buy his way out of his contract and do independent releases. At least that would remove "fights with the label" as one of the roadblocks.
Aside from the whole "give us stuff" thing...sometimes it bugs me to think what a good songwriter Axl is...and how half if not more of the works he's come up with in 2 decades live on a hard disk somewhere and may never be released....it's just such a waste artistically if they never come out.

This. Axl offered the album up for grabs in 2000. Bob Ezrin persuaded Jimmy Iovine to give them time at the Village to make it a Slash-less platinium seller. They re-recorded songs off the wall, to get CD sound like Nirvana. Brought in new songs, looked for the optimum collation of Pro Tools clips. Loads of variations for guitar parts. RTB was looking for a sound, Zutaut almost found an album. Which was the same 2000 album, re-recorded with some new songs.
We're now five years in waiting to a decade-old album.

It's more than that. Axl handed in a record in 2010 that the label sat on for unknown reasons. Guesses range from being afraid of the fast timeframe he wanted it released in ("same bat time..."), to anger over the promotion for CD, to not wanting tolay out the $ for promotion.
This shit blew my mind when I found out about it but it comes from MSL, whose info I trust.
