Cobain was scared of the crowd. A shy person does not make a good front man.   Weiland in his prime was awesome. Axl, Jagger, Bon Scott, Plant, Tyler, Morrison.

Then they should have made a list of frontmen who doesn't bother the guitarists to avoid mentioning Axl. tongue

Axl had (probably still has) stage fright and was one of the best performers in rock history. Dude would put on a helluva show for a guy who was scared to get up on stage.

I think we can only rank people in their prime - otherwise you penalise artists who didn't die young for natural ageing.

In his prime Axl should be ranked very high on that list, 10th place is comically low, he was untouchable in 1991 far beyond the level a number of the others ever got to.

Also, at the risk of angering all Australians, I always feel Brian Johnston is disrespected out of the eagerness to honour the legacy of Bon Scott. Brian has fronted AC/DC for nearly 30 years, through 9 albums, including most of their biggest commercial hits. I'm not saying they weren't good without him, but damn he holds his own and is a huge part of their sound and their success.

Finally...really? A list of front men without Mick Jagger? I'm not even that into the stones but generations of people copied that
man's style etc....it's just foundational at this point....and um...Steven Tyler? He's the quintessential frontman - holds an audience's attention like it's nothing, amazing to watch, nails all his shit live...

I'm sure there's others missing...but those omissions alone make this list absurd.

I love Brian Johnson. Stephen Tyler ripped off Jagger more than anybody.
