Re: Megadeth's Super Collider New Album

The only song so far off this album that I've enjoyed is Kingmaker and The Blackest Crow had some good classic Megadeth moments. Other than that, I'll pass on this. Quite disappointing.

Still waiting to hear it - got a signed CD coming in the mail as part of renewing my online club membership so holding out for that to arrive.

How would you compare it to Endgame or Th1rt3en son of a gun? Did you also dislike those or is this better/worse etc?

The Last Megadeth album I really enjoyed from start to finish was Youthanasia, their strongest effort since Rust In Peace. Super Colider is definetely their weakest album by far even Cryptic Writings is much stronger record. Risk, The World Needs a Hero, The System Has Failed, United Abominations, Endgame and Thirteen are all decent albums with some very good songs buried amongst tons of filler fluff.

I just got Rust 2004 remaster with the other day. Hoping to rock out to that pretty soon. Tasty jams and heavy riffs.

Just got my copy.

Damn megadeth know how to look after fans.

Handsigned version of the CD by the whole band, t-shirt, and all kinds of membership stuff (photos, cards, medallion - and 1 year access to the board where the band actually chats.) Much as I like GNR they could take a leaf out of mega's book in terms of providing value for money.

Having a listen now...you guys are harsh...there's some serious shred around here even if it is around pop choruses!

Neemo...I'd recommend cherry picking tracks from the last couple of albums. As complete works they're not Rust in Peace type stuff - but there's individual tracks that are just gold.

Will see how this album sits with me in a while, as a guitarist it's hard not to find mustane and broderick impressive though!

Impressive set of stuff you got there with the online membership purchase dude. ..and yes I agree the only GNR "band" member I've seen that actually tried to participate and get in touch with fans through the site was ron Oh yeah Endgame and Thirteen have some great tracks and singles if you don't dig every single thing on the albums. I would love to see Megadeth live and that membership signed album with bonus stuff sounds like a win/win deal. Even though I'm still going to pass on the new album since I've already invested and ordered quite a couple already and some of them I still need to listen to. The songs on Super just haven't blown me away or got me to that purchase level atm.

Dude... Get Endgame and end it right there. Chris Broderick is a bad motherfucker, and there are moments on the last two records, but 13 and SC are basically a waste of time. Endgame is the bastard child of Rust In Piece and CTE/Youthanasia.

Harsh? Kinda... But after the masterpiece that was Endgame, I thought maybe... Just maybe.. Mustaine was headed back in the right direction permanently... Listen to the last couple of Exodus records, or the last 2 Testament records. Those guys "get it". I thought Dave did too...

Judging by the last two releases, he doesn't, sadly...

To me if you cherry pick the best tracks off the new records they're fucking incredible though.

That's the difference...like the older albums I admit you can load the CD and go front to back...but I think these new ones there's filler...but that said..when you get to the best stuff on the record it's greay.

Like Thirteen has cool as fuck songs I recon, maybe it's not rust in peace as a body of work, but there's some cool playing on it like Fast Line, Deadly Nightshade, and Sudden Death has one of the best solo-tag teams in years...the shredding is just insane.

So far on Super Collider I'm really digging the cover track Cold Sweat and also Don't Turn your Back.
