Wow those comments are brutal...but some are funny as hell. (Not the GNR fan page nut, the rest of the comments.)

The unofficial GnR page is pathetic really, he should stop that.

Whole GNR is patheitc now. Axl should crawl out of his skin, get back at least in 2010 shape and begin working on new album in order to redeem himself in my book.

WHoops, my bad. I just glanced at it on my phone and assumed it was the official page.

I went to the show -- it was great. Axl's voice isn't nearly as bad live, and the crowd was very much into it. Well worth the 400 bucks I dropped on two tickets. No way I would have missed them on my birthday. Seeing them in that venue is the way to go.

I saw the last two shows of the Vegas residency and it was a fantastic experience.  Everyone sounded great.  Same type of the venue and it was a great way to go.  Had they played in Austin I might have gone to see the show and visit some old friends there.  Glad Texas is getting a bunch of shows....except for Lubbock 16

Good to hear.  It all looks pretty good to me from the videos I've seen.

We'll have to see what happens when this abbreviated run of dates ends.  The hope would be they'd wrap up the next album and then re-emerge to unleash that.  I feel like this has been said before, but THIS time, for real.

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

Really?

...and we wonder why the fucking guy isn't  motivated to change the set list or release new music. As long as people are still willing to shell out $200 a head to see the tribute act, why the fuck should he?

Completely agree Furbush. People complain about the suck constantly, but as long as they shell out money, they'll continue to have 70% Axl with session musicians forever. Good job, you accomplished nothing.

Axl wants to wake up and record new music and stop being a pussy living off other people's legacy, including his former self, fine i'll give him 100% support, but until then... whatever.

I'd rather listen to a Jerry Cantrell solo record called Alice in Chains where they at least TRIED to do something cool and new. Mad respect for that. Even Aerosmith.

GN'R? What GN'R? You mean that band that died in Buenos Aires in 1993?

I think they're a good band, they put on a great show, but the older and chubbier Axl gets the more I realise the New GNR dream is dead, he started this new incarnation of GNR in his 30's, he's managed one album that took a zillion dollars and a zillion people to make and now he's a 50 something busting out Dead Flowers or AC/DC tunes to pad out his sets, they are going nowhere.
Just drink it up and enjoy it for what it is, I'd go to a show near me in a heartbeat, cant imagine a better night out to be honest, but creatively this old fella is at the end of the road, catch him before he's pushing up daisies and cherish the memories.

Bingo!

He put his heart and soul into CD, no two ways about that. It took him a tremendous effort on a personal level, not to mention all the hassle that went into this, that and the other behind the scenes. The overdue, overpriced album broke even through financial shenanigans (thanks to Azoff), Axl failed to play ball with the one person who could've made him relevant again. Azoff, I understand, wanted to clear the CD vaults with additional albums, so that Tommy & co would have their day in the sun while RRHOF would've been the big kahuna; Reunion.

Azoff's justification for the additional albums would've been simple; the renegotiated recording agreement between Guns and Universal. Fulfill contractual agreements for outstandings new recordings aside CD, then escort Guns conveniently out of Uni and onto a label more directly affiliated to Azoff and start churning out albums with the UYI lineup. Granted, this paragraph is my speculation, whereas the one above is industry grapevine, so take it for what it is.

At the end of the day, does it matter? Mr Rose himself is living the easy life. No longer burdened by the mythical album, he seems to have burned through any and all artistic ambition and is now seemingly desperate to quaff the Rock Star cup down to the last drop. Given how happy he looks, maybe he's won. Maybe he found something more to life than struggling to record the umpteenth guitar track. Maybe partying is what drives him now, as he can don the elder statesman cloth of a suffering genius / quintessential rock star, holding the Slash card forever up his sleeve.

The question is, who are we to tell him otherwise, given how many years of his personal life he has already given to the artistic process?
