Re: Sweet Child O' Mine in a Johnson and Johson commerical.
The Guns N' Roses classic, "Sweet Child O' Mine" is now being used in a Johnson's & Johnson's commercial.
However, we're not talking about the original version sung by Axl Rose with Slash on guitar but rather what Ultimate Classic Rock very appropriately calls a "kitten-cute recording" by the Capital Children's Choir.

We could hardly believe that this was the same Guns N' Roses song and had to rush back to the original lyrics to make sure that they really were PG-13! Surprisingly enough, they are.
The song goes, "She's got a smile it seems to me/reminds me of childhood memories/where everything/was as fresh as the bright blue sky/Now and then when I see her face/she takes me away to that /special place/and if I stared too long/I'd probably break down and cry."
However, if it isn't enough for us to know that the song is (possibly?) about nostalgia and childhood feelings, the voiceover says, "Love, it's the most powerful thing on the planet. Love is there to hold us, there to comfort us as we grow old and there for all the times in between."
It goes on and on about what love might mean leaving it up to the audience, we presume, to connect Johnson & Johnson with love.
Does it work? Yes, we have to admit it does. There's just something intense and evocative about the song, even though it's being sung in a completely different way.
Watch the two different videos and judge for yourself.

Re: Sweet Child O' Mine in a Johnson and Johson commerical.
Would that have required some type of authorisation/licensing?
I dunno, isn't there some type of 30 second rule or something? In any case j&j is a massive company...I'm sure it would be a drop in the bucket for them

I can't hear anything, it's all silence. Probably they used the song without permission and Axl got his legal crew silence it. Hopefully. Otherwise he's the biggest whore of the rock and roll business.
Edit: my bad, I fucked it up. Not the ad, the volume control. So... I have never believed thsi could happen with this song. Axl needs to stop this shit. Now.
