Re: [Volume 3] What if...
..Axl was the one who really wanted the reunion, in the first place? How would that change your perception of his struggle with delivering an album and the following comments, especially most recently (2001 onwards, since in 99 the "not having Slash is preventing me from releasing an album" felt really nostalgic and somewhat positive), disregarding a reunion as the devil would with the skies?
Re: [Volume 3] What if...
Axl has been strong, publicly, about being AGAINST a reunion and that it's all idea and interest of the alumni, especially Slash and Duff.
How would you change your perception of Axl and his struggle with CD if HE, Axl, was the one that really wanted a reunion in the first place?

Re: [Volume 3] What if...
It depends what you're proposing otto.
In your hypothetical is Axl keen on a reunion while simultaneously ending the behaviour that alienated the others?
I don't think you can separate Axl's behaviour from his words.
He is the one who quit GNR, took the name, then asked the others to join nu-GNR. He is the one who sought to revolutionise the bands sound in ways that significantly diminish the role of the others. He is the one who hides behind a wall of handlers to the extent that old bandmates and friends alike have trouble getting access to him. He is the one behind the late starts.
Has hypothetical Axl ended this behaviour? Or will be still no show recording sessions? Will he work with a guitar based finished instrumental? or does it need to have layers of synth? Will there be a Beta telling duff Axl's in the shower even when he isn't and generally inhibiting open conversation? Will be communicate mostly through lawyers?
I'm not saying these things to be a dick to Axl...i'm just saying it's hard to imagine what your proposing without a fundemental shift in his character.
Let's not forget Slash's 3 offical reasons for quitting the band listed in his book:
1. The constant disrespect for everyone involved by going on stage late time after time after time.
2. The legal manipulation that Axl forced on us from taking the name to downgrading us to hired hands.
3. loosing steven and izzy that altered the chemistry.
Notice how they're pretty good reasons? Notice how problem 1 and 2 are still the same and look like they'll never change?
So it depends, if Axl stops those behaviours then wanted a reunion and the other's told him to fuck off - i'd 100% have his back on it and rant endlessly against it - but I'm not sure I could stomach Axl crying about them not comming back to him if all he's offering is that they be contract employes, if he disrespects what they brought to the original band, and if he continues to ostracise himself from both his band mates, and his own job behind a wall of obstifucation and handlers.
I'm not saying that to be anti-axl - just saying he made that situation - so if he hypothetically wanted to end it - it would be about modifying those things not about just being the guy calling for a reunion in the media.

Re: [Volume 3] What if...
Honestly, I don`t want reunion anymore that ship has sailed long time ago. Axl is happy with what he does now, he`s a mayor of delusionville and thinks that everything he does is perfect and right. Slash is content with his Conspirators, he`s finally found a vocalist who doesn`t overshadow him and has no problems being told what to do. Slash likes to be the boss as much as Axl both are in situation they always craved for so why bother to change anything. It would be depressing to watch two blokes who hate each other like a plague forcing themselves to get along for the sake of others. It would be miserable.

Re: [Volume 3] What if...
^ Good post and I see what you mean.
I'm sort of on the fence.
On one hand - I'd rather Slash puts out Conspirators 2 and Axl puts out CD2 if that's what's needed to be able to achieve their artistic visions, and if a reunion was done solely for $, and if they're still not talking.
Then again, as much as I like the solo projects and nu-gnr, sometimes you get nostalgic for what *could have been* - like when I listen to Axl screaming out nighttrain in 2006 and bringing down the house...but then the solo has robin playing the wrong thing, and the sound guy cutting out bumble accidentally for half the outro. Then you listen to made-in-stoke and slash nails it 100% but myles sings it without the anger.
Or like when I listen to something like "by the sword" on the Slash album and I imagine what Axl could do with that. Or like when Axl busted out Sailing live and you start to imagine a studio cut of that with one of slash's emotional solos.
There's a reason they got so big together.
But it's possible it's too late.

Re: [Volume 3] What if...
Yes.
But then the real hypothetical is what if they buried the hatchet?
What if they made friends, remember how in early interviews they had each others backs like a gang no matter what?
What if that happened again? What if Slash and Axl loved each other and were like "fuck the rest of the world"
then we'd be cooking with gas.

Re: [Volume 3] What if...
To clarify:
Say one day Axl decides that his handlers have actually been making his problems worse not better.
I'm pretty sure Slash would admit that he was a fuckwit in his junkie days. And he's ended that behaviour.
So like if Axl came to the conclusion that team brazil / yoda etc took advantage of his situation....he might then end the behaviours that upset slash.
I could see a world where that happens and they don't hate each other at all.

Re: [Volume 3] What if...
I want them to bury hatchet and be civil at each other it would be a big relief for them both especially Axl, he`ll get big chip off his shoulders and would be more focused to carry on with Guns`, but it won`t happen`cause neither Axl nor Slash will ever make first step. There`s no chance in hell that Axl will ever budge and admit his guilt he`s too arrogant, too stubborn to do so plus he`s serrounded himself with leaches who only care about their bank accounts nor will Slash ever approach Axl he`s 100 % certain that he`s done nothing wrong.
