Re: What if...
...Robin Finck quit in 2007 and Axl wanted to replace him with Slash? By Slash's demand, Duff would be on board as well. So we would have a line-up like this:
Axl
Slash
Duff
Bumblefoot
Richard Fortus
Frank Ferrer
Dizzy Reed
Chris Pitman
They would then add Slash parts to Chinese Democracy songs, have a slightly different tracklist and release it and tour behind the album in 2008/2009.

Re: What if...
^ Agree with above...and Slash/Duff/Axl is the holy trinity as far as I'm concerned as there's something about the way duff plays that adds that old school gnr vibe to the songs. You could hear it sometimes in VR too, he just locks with matt/slash so well.
Anyway, that line up would be great I'm sure...although I think maybe you'd want to reduce to 2 guitars if Slash was back...so richard on rhythm if you're going for a UYI feel, or bumble if you're keeping CD songs where he could shred buckets solos and leave the slash/robin bits to slash.
An Axl slash duff line up pursuing the best of the CD material, mixed with GNR versions of the best of Slash's solo stuff would be amazing.

Re: What if...
Wasn't there rumours back in the 2000's mentioned by Marc Canter himself, where Slash would've been brought in to be part of the CD sessions, if he just apologized to Axl and publicly about the stuff he said about Axl...
So really, it's wasn't that far off being a reality...

Re: What if...
I think undoubtedly more people would have given it a fair listen. On that premise I think more people would have therefore liked it. Critics from memory didn't pan CD but add in a Slash and a Duff and it's a whole different review for sure.

Let Ferrer fuck off replace him with Brain or Josh Freese and I`m down with that lineup.

Huge fan of Brain, but Frank is pretty cool to me.
