Re: Stone Music Festival Sydney - Van Halen & Aerosmith headlining!
Just to see Eddie Van Halen shredding live in person, regardless, that will be something to tick off my bucket list!

It is simply a life changing experience that the live videos you find online don't do it enough justice.

Man I have to find a way to get to this gig....
I'm into the idea of Kings of Chaos as I was always interested in Baz with VR.
And aerosmith are awesome....and although I'm not much into VH...would be good to see the legend of EVH in person.

Have entered some competitions to win tickets, and they're supposed to be announced in the next few days, so hopefully I win, but I'm gonna get my tickets regardless even if I don't.
Pretty fuckin excited to see Van Halen and Aerosmith, and Kings of Chaos too.
Here's a recent rehearsal pic of Duff and Gilby

Pretty fucking pumped for this, only one more sleep!!!
Here's Kings of Chaos rehearsing
And just landed in town
In a way, because Kings of Chaos play all those covers, it's like I get to see Def Leppard, Skid Row, GN'R, Deep Purple and Billy Idol, along with the mighty Aerosmith and Van Halen.
Fuck, what a lineup!!!

Thanks Russ, will give a full run down when I can gather my thoughts after it's all over!
Just thinking that I get to see Aerosmith AND Van Halen on the one bill, it's almost too much awesome for one day!

Stone Music Festival initial thoughts
Richie Ramone - Fucking terrible. He had no place on this bill at all. I don't care if he was drummer in the Ramones, his solo outfit was fucking shit.
Buckcherry - Awesome, big surprise for me. They rocked! They finished with Crazy Bitch and the whole crowd was going off!
Kings of Chaos
Welcome to the Jungle (Guns N' Roses)
Youth Gone Wild (Skid Row)
Highway Star (Deep Purple)
Burn (Deep Purple)
Rebel Yell (Billy Idol)
Pour Some Sugar On Me (Def Leppard)
Paradise City (Guns N' Roses)
What else can I say but AMAZING - They opened with Sebastian Bach singing Welcome to the Jungle followed by Youth Gone Wild, then two Deep Purple tunes with Glenn Hughes singing, Pour Some Sugar On Me and Rebel Yell with Joe Elliot singing, then closed with all singers sharing vocals for Paradise City.
I gotta say, watching Gilby, Duff & Matt playing Jungle with Baz in this stadium felt like I was watching the UYI tour. A really amazing vibe!
Plus, Kings Of Chaos announced they'd be back here in Australia January next year, and I'll most definitely go see them again.

The Van Halen's (Alex, Eddie & Wolf) were great. Eddie Van Halen shredded like the guitar god he is and didn't miss a note!
Alex's drumming was killer, and Wolf played great bass, and sang great backing vocals too.
David Lee Roth is a great showman, but his singing was out of tune and out of sync with the band.
But seeing Eddie and Alex (in particular Eddie) was well worth it to me anyway.
Honestly, after seeing some recent youtube clips of David Lee Roth live, I kinda knew what to expect as far as him not being a very good live singer.
But it was odd, when he delivered his vocal lines he was almost completely out of sync with the bad, like he was on a different rhythm than the rest of them were.
Then to make things even stranger, he sang and played Ice Cream Man flawlessly on acoustic guitar by himself, before the rest of the band kicked in. Strange...
I also saw some great performances from some local Aussie bands on the day, that I won't bore you with, since many of you won't know who they are anyway...
But overall, it was a great festival, and a great day of rocking music!
Only thing that is a shame, is that the promoter organising this festival did such a shambles of a job on this, that I don't think this festival will return any time soon.

Re: Stone Music Festival Sydney - Van Halen & Aerosmith headlining!
Yeah..that's Dave for ya. When I saw them, he was out of sync with a few songs that came on later in the set and he started to pick up momentum towards the end. He's a frontman and hype man through & through. I think maybe after a couple more shows, I'm sure Dave will improve a little. But..like you were getting at the Van Halen clan were the shit! As always. Wolf is the fucking man in getting these shows together. I want to see the Kings of Chaos come over and do a big show over near my area. That would be sweet! Glad they rocked the place!
