Re: Bruce Springsteen Discussion
Wasn't sure if there was already a Bruce Springsteen thread, so I started one up, but feel free to merge if there is an existing one.
Anyway, my reason for starting it back up, is that I went to see The Boss on his Australian tour last night.
My brother convinced me to go with him, as he kinda inundated me with Bruce's music growing up, probably as much as I inundated him with GNR and Metallica...
But while at the time I hated it, over the years, I've grown a big appreciation of his music too, though I'd only call myself a casual fan... until last night!
What an absolutely amazing showman - 3 hours 10 minutes, of almost non stop music. No oxygen tents required for Bruce (sorry Axl! ), and he's 63 years old!
What was more amazing is that while he had the staples of his set, he also picked out songs from signs held up in the crowd, for impromptu performances of requests from the crowd.
And he played so many great songs, off the cuff, and they all sounded great!
He also crowd surfed for half a song!
As you all know, I also saw GN'R on Sunday, so seeing Bruce as well within a few days of eachother, kinda ties up revisiting my childhood over the last week!
Here's the set list
Devils & Dust (Solo Acoustic)
Last to Die
The Ties That Bind
Darkness on the Edge of Town
Wrecking Ball
Death to My Hometown
Out in the Street
Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street?
The Promised Land (Sign Request)
Cover Me (Sign Request)
No Surrender (Sign Request)
I'm on Fire (Sign Request)
My City of Ruins
High Hopes
Because the Night
Open All Night
Shackled and Drawn
Waitin' on a Sunny Day
Lonesome Day
The Ghost of Tom Joad
Badlands
Jungleland
Born to Run
Bobby Jean
Dancing in the Dark
Detroit Medley
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
Re: Bruce Springsteen Discussion
Bruce is a great showman, no doubt. BUT, I fell asleep during the one and only concert of his I attended, so. It's about quality, not quantity., as is always the case. Just saying, I could've done with about an hour less and would've been just as satisfied. So when people complain about GNR putting on 3 hour shows and saying they could do without the solos. Well, it happens in other arenas as well.

Re: Bruce Springsteen Discussion
I disagree with you there Faldor, because being only a casual fan, even the performances of the songs I didn't know, he played with so much enthusiasm and showmanship, it was hard to not get into it. It didn't seem to drag at all to me. And there weren't any type of solo spots either, just 3 hours of Bruce giving it all.
But apples and oranges I guess...
Re: Bruce Springsteen Discussion
I love some Springsteen IN THE RIGHT TIMES.
Springsteen can kinda blend together after awhile. No different than AC/DC for me.
So sliding in a Springsteen track here in there in a mix list is when I love Bruce. I thought Bruce & E Street fuckin' owned at the Super Bowl a few years ago.
