Re: Woman falls asleep, crashes into car carrying her in-laws
BLOOMFIELD - A woman driving home from an overnight work shift apparently fell asleep and crashed into another car, killing her father-in-law, police said.
Morris Todd, 73, of Bloomfield was pronounced dead at the scene of Monday morning's crash along Indiana 54 in southwestern Indiana. His wife and passenger, Judith Todd, 67, was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where she was listed in fair condition Tuesday.
Their daughter-in-law, Beth Todd, 44, of Bloomfield was driving home from work when her minivan crossed the center line near a bend in the road about 75 miles southwest of Indianapolis, Greene County Sheriff's Department said.
Her car struck the Todds' car head-on about seven miles east of Bloomfield, leaving her with minor injuries.
Although the crash remains under investigation, Greene County dispatcher Cheri Campbell said all evidence points to an accident that just happened to involve Beth Todd's relatives.
