I've seen Chris jacked up more than a few times Sometimes it makes for a better show, other times it makes for an interesting night to say the least...
Me too, that was just the most memorable, both for his surliness and the weird ass venue. He was so pissed with the audience that night.

I'd have killed someone EASILY to see the Tom Petty + Black Crowes tour.
Shame they don't get anywhere near Brazil with the tours. I went to Germany to see Petty, probably will have to fly another couple of miles to see the Crowes!
Are you still planning on traveling across the US this year? If so, maybe you can catch the Crowes?
Only by November/December, that in the best scenario. It's more feasible to be in 2014.

Funny story about an experience I had at Petty/Black Crowes. They played in Hartford, CT at The Meadows, or whatever corporate name it has now. It's an outdoor amphitheater and lots of big acts hit it in the summer. It's a great place to tailgate and party prior to the shows. Anyway, so we were doing as such and throughout the day people come around to collect your empty cans and bottles so they can make a few bucks. This one African American gentlemen was doing so in our area. As we were getting ready to wind down and head into the show he got into a bit of a fight with his wife. His wife was what you'd imagine a black woman married to a black man who collects cans at concerts to be, not to get all judgmental or anything, just trying to set the scene. Anyway, it got a little awkward at that point with them yelling at each other right next to us. So to try and ease the tension I yell out, "come on everybody, let's go see the Black Crowes!" Without skipping a beat, the black woman turns to me and says, "Oh no you didn't. You did not just call us black crows." I got upset, because I am by no means a racist and didn't like being labeled one. So I tried to explain to her that it was the BAND I was referring to. I showed her my ticket with their names on it. She was not having it though. And frankly, I was pissed. They drove away and I think I gave them the "Suck it!" sign or something to that effect. Fun times.
Re: Black Crowes Discussion (THEY'RE BACK!!)
If someone would've told me in 1993 that all the key members of GNR & TBC would be alive and kicking and that neither band would have any relevancy in the American music...I'd of laughed them out of the room. lol. The times have definitely changed:/ Like unbelievably so.
I last saw The Crowes on Sept, 28, 2007 in Bend, Oregon. I'd guess there were about 500 people in a 6,000 person amphitheater on a 30 degree evening. Chris Robinson was in his bus and heading to Portland before the band was finished playing the last song. It was pretty classic.
Doubt I'll ever trek anywhere to see them again though...especially with no Marc Ford or Ed the keyboard player.
