Re: the gnrevolution "make music" project
I'm up to it... I think we should just decide the track first...
If it's Don't Cry I can perhaps record the drums based on the album version... Would that work for you guys? Then you can put other intrumentation above of it...
That's how I.orig thought we would do it, but I'm a recording virgin
My recorder thingy does metronome so either is ok by me....I just need to set aside time to get to it, and come.Friday I will be off 2 weeks, we also still need a bassist
Russ Whatever vocals are ok by me, but I'm more partial to the orig, so the scratch track I do might be orig lyrics
Re: the gnrevolution "make music" project
Ok, I'll set my home recording up and I'll play over the studio track...
Should get a definite track in about a week...
The metronome thing I mention and the need of a base track is because Don't Cry starts without drums on the intro, so syncing the intro with the drums might be tricky later on mixing and even for recording...
I'll try to have my track counting the tempo and I'll export a file with the into played together so it can make it easier to record your parts.

Re: the gnrevolution "make music" project
Don't Cry is cool with me. Even though I've listened to the original lyric version more often than the alternate; but that's ok. It's just that I probably would do better with performing backing vocals over the track. I could maybe add in a little electric piano or organ kind of synth pattern to set a foundation with what the rest of you guys are setting up to do. Even though both versions of the song don't feature any synth. I'm in no hurry and ready to go when you guys are.

Re: the gnrevolution "make music" project
Let me know when you guys start recording your parts. I should be able to record and edit a backing vocal and a few keyboard parts even though the song doesn't require any synth. Maybe just a basic organ soundscape in the background of the song that doesn't over power any of the main instrumental parts. I can't wait for this to happen going to be so much fun sending stuff to you guys to mess around with. Always wanted to feel a part of a band project.
Re: the gnrevolution "make music" project
I'll try to have a first draft of the drums recorded today...
Will try to have a 'definitive' version by the weekend. I still think having a basic track with a rough guitar + rough vocals + metronome would be better but I'll try with the drums first..
