Re: ‘Sopranos’ movie in the works?
'˜Sopranos' movie in the works?
By Denette Wilford2008-03-07
Don't stop believing, '˜Sopranos' fans
Tony and the gang may not be swimming with the fishes after all.
Satin Dolls, which served as the filming location for the Bada Bing, Silvio Dante's strip club and Tony's favourite hangout, had big plans to renovate the building when The Sopranos ended.
But the Times Herald-Record reports that those renos have been put on hold and, according to Nick D'Urso, the manager of Satin Dolls, there are plans to film a Sopranos movie.
Though D'Urso refused to name names, he insists it's all on legit.
'I got an inside tip that they're going to do a movie, so I don't want to make any major changes,' said D'Urso. 'I'm not going to reveal my sources, but we got a call from somebody (working) on the script.'
HBO replied to D'Urso's claims with a 'no comment.'
After 86 episodes, the series ended somewhat anticlimactically, as Tony and his family sat at a diner table while a suspicious character lurked nearby. The show then cut to black with Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' playing in the background, leaving fans forever wondering.
Well, maybe not forever, after all.

Re: ‘Sopranos’ movie in the works?
I knew it!!!!!!!
I knew that's why they left it open like they did. David Chase left the ending ambiguous but that the writing on the wall is that Tony Soprano bought it.....riiiiiight.
I know if there really is a movie, I'll be first in line
Re: ‘Sopranos’ movie in the works?
I heard or read somewhere recently that David Chase didn't want to do a movie because he really liked the ending and wanted to leave it like that. So if they were to do a movie it would have to be a prequel or something.
He easily could have changed his mind, or what I read could have been bullshit, but I saw it somewhere.
Re: ‘Sopranos’ movie in the works?
I have never seen so much as one episode of this show. People who have and are aware I'm a big Goodfellas fan are just shocked when they find out.
Is the show really all it's cracked up to be?
I honestly think it's one of the greatest shows ever made. I guess everybody will think something different though. Although, I don't think I've ever met anyone who's seen it and doesn't really like it.
Also, as a Goodfellas fan it'd be fun for you just to see the huge amount of people who are in Sopranos too. There's one specific nod to Goodfellas(I think in season 2) that really cracked me up, to the point where I laugh just thinking about it sometimes.

Re: ‘Sopranos’ movie in the works?
If this is true it would have to be a prequel. The storyline is wrapped up, chrissy, bobby, johnny and tony are dead. A prequel is the only thing that could work.
Could be pretty cool actually. Sopranos godfather style.
That's what my husband and I were saying when we were talking about it. They really did kill off alot of major characters, I don't know about prequel..maybe, getting back to the basics and how utterly great the first season was, I'd love to see it that raw again.....but it's going to have to be creative however they do it.
Although, they really left Tony waaay open. The screen going to black at the end could mean anything now with a movie in the works.
RUSS - this is one of the greatest series, I have ever watched. The first 2 to 3 seasons were unbelievable, they were so well done and so raw and violent just like Goodfellas. Then they got a bit weaker do to becoming more creative with the storyline and less violent and raw. I still loved it though but nothing will ever be like those first couple seasons. Hopefully the movie will be
If James Gandolfini isn't in the movie, then I am not seeing it. To me, he was The Sopranos, without him, then it just can't work.
