I dont know how many of u like country, but this song tears me up:

Doug Stone "Id be Better Off, In a Pinebox" *this was one of my dad's favorites..

I agree 100% with "The Drugs Don't Work". That song has a fucking brutal effect on my emotional state. In at number 2 I'd put "Talk Tonight"

Hurt is a little overwrought for me as is nutshell. The music in Nutshell is touching but the "put on" fake element of Layne's voice makes it feel unauthentic in a way that something like "Drugs don't work" just isn't.
Actually "let's all make believe" is another one:

"Lets all make believe that we're all friends and we like each another" harsh

Mike and the Mechanics - In The Living Years.
Although I have to say it sounds a bit cliche now.
Yeah, great pick!
Can't believe no-one has mentioned Estranged yet.
But I guess the kinda "light at the end of the tunnel / ray of hope" part that the song goes into at the end, stops it from being an all out sad song.

The lyrics to "This I Love" are incredibly sad I think - especially the way Axl sings it.
Also not in the same way, but I always found Sweet 16 by Billy Idol pretty sad conceptually...also ground control to major tom.

Lost Cause-Beck
These Days (well the slow acoustic parts explaining your own mortality i tend to start feeling something), Word Forward, and Friend of a Friend - Foo Fighters
I find to be upsetting at times. They have a ton of emotion in Dave's lyrics.
