Re: Total Guitar Interview with Ron, DJ & Richard
has either side clarified whether or not axl actually turned slash away or talked to him?
reason i ask is that gnr's statement says slash called out duff, matt, and scott in a sober and personal manner.
it defies logic that he would so when talking to a lebeis or security, if sober.
not taking axl's side here but if his slash and duff gave him more time after this rather than suing him i bet progress would have been made.

If he had actually met with him, I'd agree. Axl could have said something to the effect of "don't worry, I'll take care of it" and all should have been fine. But that's clearly not how it played out.

Re: Total Guitar Interview with Ron, DJ & Richard
If someone comes over to your house to work things out and you refuse to even speak to them, you can't be surprised or disappointed when that is the next step.
Exactly.
Even when Slash was in the band he was only allowed to communicate with Axl through Doug, these days Beta tells anyone who comes to see Axl that he's in the shower....if they have a dispute over copyright payments - what else can they do other than file to get some kind of responce?
Re: Total Guitar Interview with Ron, DJ & Richard
Yeah, but Slash might be very flakey in real life. I've heard many stories of people who've met him who say he's nothing like what he presents himself as. That's he's actually a pretty big A-hole. If Axl wanted to wait and see if Slash really meant what he said and Slash failed, I can't blame him. We really don't know the history between the two that makes Axl feel the way he does about him and why he obviously doesn't trust him. I don't think it's as B&W as people think.
And I seriously doubt they filed a lawsuit just to get a response from Axl. There's a bunch of ways to get a response. And didn't Duff drop his lawsuit and Slash didn't after the truth came out that Axl wasn't behind it?

STILL
Slash was there, he tried to reach out.
He got shit upon, with a big heap of piss and vinegar for dessert to follow.
And Axl is just trying to "survive this war"????
Gimme a break. If you go back and read the press release on the subject, it sounds like Axl was "hopeful that Slash would live up to his pronouncements that he wanted to end the war and move on with life. Unfortunately that did not prove to be the case." That last bit being in reference apparently to the lawsuit they filed in regards to the ASCAP royalty checks not being sent to them.
So - and this is not a judgement either way - perhaps any significance the gesture of Slash coming to Axl's house that night/early morning was nullified by the subsequent lawsuit in Axl's eyes. Again, not saying that's right or wrong, just that's my interpretation from the language in the press release.
This actually reminded me of an interview I heard Billy Corgan give an Aussie radio station where he said when people ask him about reforming the original Pumpkins, his thought is "o.k., which lawsuit should I forget about?" Meaning, while it may not seem like a big deal to those of us on the outside, perhaps the hassle, in terms of time and/or money, and/or stress of these lawsuits may really piss some people off.

And you're assuming that Axl was even there at his at that time. Which was never, ever confirmed. Could he have been? Sure. It's never been confirmed that he was, only that he came over to talk to Axl and instead spoke to Beta and Slash himself said he was drunk at the time.

You mean as an alternative to a 5:30 a.m. unannounced visit to someone's home? I don't know, I hear that wacky Alexander Graham Bell invention called the "telephone" is a viable means of communication

Re: Total Guitar Interview with Ron, DJ & Richard
Let me ask you this Ali - what time of day or night do you think Axl is most likely to be awake?
It's a known fact that he's mostly nocturnal.
If you are desperate to have a real one-on-one heart to heart with him it's a lot more likely to happen at 5.30am than 5.30pm and we both know it.

Further no one is trying to cast Slash as a saint....
I don't see why it was to either be that either one of them is 100% right.
Slash himself admitted he shares a portion of the blame in 2011...but it seems Axl won't meet him half way.

I was trying to think of a reason for Slash to be sober at 5.30. That might actually be it.
You gotta remember another thing that plays into this. Previous to this Axl made some comments at a party that he still had love for Slash or something that made the press. Probably the only time he's said anything positive about the guy since 94.
Did that prompt Slash to do the visit? Then when he didn't get the response he wanted he did the lawsuit (a game that's been going on for a while according to Ax man)?
