i can play lead or rhythm guitar and do pittman shit.  mixing and mastering as well although riad may be better at that than me. i guarantee nobody on this board can play slash's material as close to exact as me though. ill put money on that.

If we have plenty of lead players, then I stick to my acoustic. Although an acoustic part in CD will make Axl overthink his next album even more. 14

IF we end up with way too many people interested maybe we should do 2 concurrent songs or something?

we could....whatever

looking at my tab books i'm afraid that i know bastardized versions of songs that take the best of both worlds if you will...lol

if we do this should we try to make it as close as possible guitar wise or just make up whatever .... ie dont cry has 5 guitar parts, i know a mix of all of them together

slash is guitar 1 and 4, izzy is guitar 2, 3 and 5

Not sure.

My personal preference when covering stuff is to put your own spin on it a little.

For example, I liked KOHD and LALD at the time because they were old songs but done with GNR's way of making music.

So like to me - if I try and copy slash - it's only going to fail because I'm not slash - and I think that's true even when people have very extreme skills. So on one hand - i usually think if I try and copy a solo note for note then it just neuters the song - cos it's only going to sound like a bad copy - and I loose all emotion in the struggle to be someone else.

On the other hand - the guitar is so intrinsic to this music - that changing the melodies is offensive. Hell - my exact problem with Robin was that he added too much of his own style into the solos and changed around the melodies too much.

So I'm not sure. On one hand I think it's far more interesting to do a modernised take on some of the songs - like maybe we do a Chinese Song and make it more like it would be with a more traditional rock band or like the old band had done them....it's far more creative and exciting....then again...doing straight covers of the material is  most likely to create a version of the song that GNR fans actually admire...as the more experimental we go the more likely people listen to it and go wtf.

well...i dont mind changing it up a bit but yeah we gotta leave the main hooks in imo...but if u and I are the 2 guitarists for DC for example and we both do the main riff then we miss out on the cool little underlay riff, normally i am the only guitarist so i just know the one part...the mainly heard part

looked at DC again, I & IV is Izzy....II, III & V is Slash, so yeah i do know Izzy's part for that particular tune,  but whatever lol

Are you still we on for doing this everybody? Wanted what time is best for you guys to start sending and recording parts. Also the final decision on the song selections so far.

I'm up to it... I think we should just decide the track first...

If it's Don't Cry I can perhaps record the drums based on the album version... Would that work for you guys? Then you can put other intrumentation above of it...
