Re: Aerosmith Discussion
^ hahah I do that heaps with all kinds of albums - I remove the songs I can't stand via playlists and so on...works really well....except when you forget and start arguing with someone about if the 3rd track on Album X is or isn't good lol....
I loved "The Grind" - killer track.

I kinda don't blame Riad. The years that go by, I realize more and more that they are a different band when rocking versus when power balladin'. I love their ballads, but when you trim that shit... you do get an entirely different energy from them, unlike Led Zeppelin who stay consistent in their tone throughout.

The best riff on the album has joe perry straining his voice all over it. Pure ego. You can't sing man, shut the fuck up and let your singer (one of the all time greats) sing!
I wanted an album of dirty blues like the original number they had on "honkin":

There's good moments on this album no doubt. But my god they are few and far between.
Not half enough bluesy grime on this album. Not half enough bluesy grime by half.I'm gonna delete all the love songs like somebody proposed. Just fucking delete them and hold onto the good shit, pretend that I live in an alternative reality where that's the album.
Yeah man, how many fucking songs does Joe fuck up trying to sing??? Im like where the hell is Steven?
That Freedom Fighter song is the biggest piece of fuck i've ever heard.

Must eat them away their biggest commercial hit was a song not written by them.. so its like we keep getting a recycled shitty hash of that song on the new album

Re: Aerosmith Discussion
Aerosmith is one of those bands that just need to have their lead singer sing the songs. There are exceptions where bands have members that can sing really well and pull that song off and get the share the spotlight with the lead singer/frontman on an album. The greatest example I would have to say is Queen. Everyone can sing in that band. The harmonies! Freddie is an amazing singer and Brian and Roger have some strong pipes as well. 39' is one of my favorite Queen songs and Brian's vocals are killer on it. Let Me Live from Made in Heaven is another example of showing their vocal talents. Hopefully I didn't derail anything. Carry on!
Re: Aerosmith Discussion
Ha. Maybe I'm the only one who digs Joe's singing. That said, a lot of my favorite Stones songs are ones Keef sings, so it's not huge dymamics I look for in my singers.
It's not a dynamic thing for me either. My favorite singer - Liam Gallagher - only knows 2 notes. He's good on back back train and songs like that which stay low and suit his voice, but when he tries to go high it's not a a pleasing experience in my opinion.
