Re: If this place ever goes HTGTH way
Seriously everyone involved, if u get a shot at the Jarmo deal, TAKE IT
but if this place starts going towards the kissing the band's ass way and only positive comments allowed, bans, deleted topics, posts etc..
just please, give me a heads up, I will wish u all the best but quietly walk away to somewhere else.

I don't think GNREvo would heading to the HTGTH territory. But unfortunately the "be happy with what you get and don't care about what you don't get"-mentality seems to be less and less tolerant with other viewpoints. Like people who aren't fans of *that particular album* or aren't happy with the tribute band status they're reaching (have reached) wouldn't be fans and should go to other bands' sites they *actually like*.
I understand that one album in 20 years can cause a "get on board or f:flame: off" attitude, since it's the only reference point in a long time. But you can see it from another viewpoint: people can be a fan of a particular artists even when they don't like or aren't fans of one particular album and think that the lead singer is weak live or liked previous line-ups better. Deal with it.
But as crazy as Axl is, and as bad as his hangers-on are, they made it into a religious battle, where Good fights against Evil, and you must take a side, or you are Evil, of course, like Kid Rock learnt his lesson (and Zakk Wylde will probably do that, too). I could make a huge list how Axlism is similar to the Christianity of the Middle Ages. Maybe later.
Anyway, I like this site, otherwise I would have quit online GN'Rism years ago.
Re: If this place ever goes HTGTH way
Did I just wake up this a thread titled this or am I still drunk from last night?
Come on D, you know damn well that will never happen. Bans happen at every forum. And from what I read so far, Bono wasn't banned for not liking the band or any shit like that. It was temp. I will never stand for deleted posts or topics or forced positive discussion.
Oh and for the record.. I'd pass on the Jarmo deal.
Re: If this place ever goes HTGTH way
i would sell you all out for the jarmo deal.

Re: If this place ever goes HTGTH way
Sorry I think it might have been me who originally started the "Is this place becoming HTGTH" paranoia
Frankly it's because I find the environment over there deeply disturbing, the whole saga is like a microcosm of the way people have followed propaganda, sold each other out and otherwise gone along with things they know it be untrue at various times in history - things like some of the experiments at socialism, the witch trials of the past, the fear of reds under the bed, and stuff like that. Obviously it's just a band and not anything as important as those incidents - but in it's own small way - it's a parallel and says a lot about human nature.
Meanwhile, while I accept Russ and other's statements that they are not on the payroll, I do feel the tone of this place has changed significantly in recent months - both in terms of the views expressed by posters, and the direction of the moderation. At first i thought it was my imagination, but it keeps happening and obviously with this thread being here it's not just me that's noticed it.
Perhaps it's natural. I know Axlin has spoken of his love/hate fan relationship to Axl being the heal character of rock music. I think such feelings tend to make people's posts vary from praise/anger toward the band - and I think his view is probably indicative of a lot of us here - I know myself I have mixed views - on one hand Axl is BY FAR my favourite songwriter ever and GNR is my favourite act - on the other hand I'm uncomfortable with the aforementioned approach places like HTGTH take....I like honesty in things - and just like I'm the first to say I love GNR songs and I'd kill for a new album, I don't like to pretend - so I can't support it when people imply old members contributed nothing, or when people suggest Axl's voice is fine on boots where it's clearly having a bad night and so on... ...and that I feel the band could be managed a lot better, and that to an extent the talent in the band (including Axl) is being eroded by the passage of time and the inability to deliver more of his art. It's things like the recent cinema cancellation experience. A small thing - but sort of standard for this band and I really can't understand why.
All this means that sometimes I'm a "positive" poster and sometimes "negative" I guess. But I don't see why there needs to be such a distinction. I mean does someone really have to think everything is always good all the time to be a fan. It doesn't seem healthy at all.
Re: If this place ever goes HTGTH way
This is just a general discussion. Honestly, I'd have zero hard feelings cause like I said with the Jarmo thing. I don't agree with it, but fuck i understand it.
make all ur fantasies and dreams come true and tour the world with ur all time fave band, or keep online cred and keep internet friends....
pretty easy choice is all I'm saying.
but, I just don't want any part of any forum that doesn't allow everyone to have their own opinions and feelings.
This isn't directed at the Bono thing per se, but there have been some posts here lately that if u covered up the name, u would think it was Jarmo posting on Here.Like Monkey.... last few months... Its like I can feel the Tide changing.... can't exactly put my finger on it but I've gotten where I almost hesistate to post certain things anymore.
