Washington had the magic going last night. Ovechkin had a hat trick and two assists, and unlikely guys like Matt Bradley played really well. People have been saying that Chara is up for the Norris trophy, but I can't imagine he'd get it if he was on the ice for any of those goals last night.
I watched the Habs game too... They really got beat up. The guys in San Jose really throw their weight around. And they went 0 for 6 on the power play. I'd like to say Montreal didn't bring its A game, but I think they did, they just got beat up.
As for the Ottawa-Anaheim game, I saw a good portion of that one too... Ottawa didn't play. That team is in big trouble. The refs did a number on that one though. I saw Murray get ejected, but I missed why he got tossed. Was he arguing a call or something?

I've said it before and I'll say it now: Philadelphia has the worst sports fans in the country. Tallinder went down tonight after being hit from behind in the numbers (it wasn't all that dirty, I wouldn't have called a penalty). His head had snapped into the boards. So a few minutes later with help from the trainers he is able to get up and skate off the ice. THIS WAS BOOED! How much worse can it get? It's not like Tallinder ever did anything bad to Philly, but apparently they boo injuries down there now.

I agree, Communist China. They are brutal people. Hell, they booed Santa. Classy group of people, I tell ya. They're just as miserable at the hockey board I belong on, too. They love being hated and enjoy the bad reputation they have.

First off, 50% of the NHL cities probably shouldn't even have hockey teams (Atlanta, COlumbus, Tampa etc). Second the whole Santa Claus thing was 40+ years ago, and our team stunk & they brought out some sorry ass looking Santa Clauss reject. We've had our bad moments, booing Michael Irvin when he went off on a stretcher, fan fighting Tie Domi in the penalty box (legendary), but we have our shining moments of passion as well. Like a fan who ran out onto the Eagles field & was tackled by security. Later we found out he was spreading his Mothers ashes onto the field, her dying wishes. Or booing Destiny's Child for being stupid enough to wear a Lakers jersey during their NBA finals halftime performance, WTF was she thinking??! Dumb broad. It's a hard town, and isn't for everyone. Look at Pat Burrell, he gets booed out in Left Field every day yet refuses to leave this town. He even has a no-trade clause in his contract and never lifted it because he doesn't wanna leave. Jeff Garcia thrived here, and if you watched a Colts game where we were beat badly he was hurt & AJ Feeley began warming up. Garcia came back in & was booed heavily. He never lost again until the NFL championship game, 5 regular season wins & a playoff game.
I didn't see the play, and I don't agree with booing a player after an injury, but whenever it happens in New York the announcers always joke "There goes that Bronx cheer, hahaha" but when it happens in Philly it's a terrible shame. I certainly wouldn't call Philly the worst sports fans in the country.

I can't remember the last time I've seen an NHL player booed as they got off the ice from an injury. Their usually is more respect in the NHL than in other sports leagues, so this was especially horrifying. Coming into this season I was ok with the Flyers. The players, coaches and GM I despised were gone. I love Biron, I like Briere a lot, a lot of their other players are young and not dirty, barring a few. But the fans still make me hate them. It's a shame.

The Huet trade made almost perfect sense. Ever since the start of the season when Gainey over ruled Carbo to keep Price you knew the writting was on the wall for Huet. Montreal was never gonna resign Huet with management basically feeling Price is ready now. Montreal has been dealing with this lame situation of a goaltending tandem since basically Roy left and it's time to go with a legit number one. Huet was great for us but he wasn't the guy the Habs wanted to move forward with. People will argue how can you trade your number one and go into the playoffs with a rookie goaltender. Well first off Huet isn't some cagey playoff vetran. He's got a total of 6 games under his belt with a 2-4 record. Hardly the type of playoff experience to brag about. Basically he's no more experienced than Price. In fact there's a real good chance that after this season Price will have more playoff experience than Huet. Secondly Price has led his teams to World Junior Championships and AHL championships. He may in fact be more experienced with pressure situations than Huet. A Cup in 2008 was never the real goal for the Habs. 2009 is a different story. The Habs will do everything they can to win it next year mark my words and Price is the guy they feel will take them there. What better way to prepare than have Price be your guy down the stretch this year and get some playoff experience as well. That way he's not a fresh faced rookie starting goalie. And dont' forget it's not liek we caleld up some schumck to be Price's backup. We all saw how capable Halak was last year and for the secodn straight year halak has been the AHL's best goaltender. Bob had his bases coverd. To be honest the trade was a really smart move for the development of the team and Price. The only curious thing is they only got a 2nd round pick for Huet. Other than that the move was smart cause we got something for Huet before he walked and it wasn't as surprising as many made it out to be.

I didn't randomly decide to bash Philly fans. If you guys didn't pull this shit last night you wouldn't haer about it. Hating a team is different from what I'm doing right now. I hate lots of teams... the Dolphins, Patriots, Yankees, Bruins, Sens... but you don't see me bitching about those on the internet unless something happens specifically to grow that hate.
You can't say it wasn't a dick move, that lots of angry crowds (including Buffalo, who boos everyone that's good) wouldn't dare do.
