Very cool performance. Axl did alright; but the band were on fire for that song. Especially on those outro solos.

Ron really nails Bucket's solos spot on, you gotta hand it to the guy!

Someone posted the performance of The Seeker by The Who on Tumblr. So I'll post it here. Good performance and like the vibe of it.

I really don't get the fascination with TWAT. It's just not that good of a song in my opinion. To be honest I think it sounds like a mess live and on the album.
For me it's the "I would do anything for you" parts on the studio cut.
You know how Axl has those moments where he sort of captures a mood or a series of thoughts that go through your brain and it comes out as less like listening to a sound and more like reliving that emotion via the sound.
For some people it's estranged and some is november rain and so on.
But those parts in TWAT really capture to me the futility of that situation, loving someone that's gone and the purity of how he felt at the time compared with the terrible way things turned out, mixed with that whole sort of strange way it is in the mind to look back on things where if you think about it long enough you can relive the emotion but you can never really go back to that time....
Also...it's jolly hard to sing...thing it's something like a G#6 in the high parts....well out of the range of your average joe and miles aways from my highest notes in the shower and so something about that, coupled with the length of the notes and the rasp makes it feel so passionate to me and a full moment.
I must say I don't get the fascination with buckets parts. His outro solo to me is just adequate, and the parts he plays over the verses seem distracting to me - liked the 99 demo version of it with stronger emphasis on strings better during the verses. However props to Ron that he nails that shit live and does the studio cut more than justice.
I think the best live TWAT version so far was in 09 at Tokyo...came closest to capturing the magic in those screams in the middle...
But yeah...that's why I love the song anyway...it's one of those songs that takes me to another place, and where I feel it captures something more than just music in a song...feelings sortof.

That was a decent performance on twat. Axl seemed to get better as the song went on especially towards the end. The band as well. Ron nailed his parts and should handle most of the song. Setlist looked pretty good. Hope the keep with this attitude. Don't care for the who no matter who sings it.
I dig There Was a Time as a song. I don't think it's a masterpiece but it's maybe the best song the post original era has done. Guitar wise I think it's pretty sick. The tone and flow is pretty good stuff. I can relate to the song so I get some people's love for it.
Re: 11-07-2012 - The Joint, Las Vegas, NV
Axl sings the screams at a lower pitch than normal, in 2009 he really nailed them at the superhigh level, I only pay attention to that because those screams are my fav moment in all of GNR so I'm somewhat obsessive about the, but other than that looks like a great night for everyone
Damn. The band is tight and Axl starts to really cook as the song goes on.

Sky Dog wrote:Honestly, I would rather hear Don't Let It Bring You Down than Perfect Crime....the casual fan isn't starving to hear either but Axl trying to screech that tune out now is not very appealing.
Agreed. I don't know why anyone would want to see Axl attempt Perfect Crime in 2012. It would SUCK.
A Private Eye wrote:I think the selection of old songs they do these days is great, there's nothing really obvious to me from the back catalogue that they should be playing and aren't. CW and Estranged were the main ones everyone called for and we get them now. Sure an odd surprise of My Michelle or Think About You would be good but nobody is having a worse show without them. For me it's the mix up of the CD tracks that's more interesting and hopefully (one day) brand new material.
I think I'd be cool if they did Dead Horse. To me that is Guns N' Roses most classic rock feeling song.
Sounds like Russ, Buzz & Gibbo had a great night.
I didnt go mate i live in Australia i was just relaying the setlist back to the forum \nn/

Some of you are making out like any other additional original Guns songs they play, would be 'obscure' GNR back catalogue stuff to the casual fan, but they're fucking GNR!
I've never heard of this 'obscure' Who song before now either, so if I had my pick, I'd choose an 'obscure' Guns song over an 'obscure' cover song
