The coffin has officially been nailed shut on any potential doubts regarding the quality of this album. For those not paying much attention, this is the Thayil song on the album, just like Never the Machine Forever on DOTU. You can tell just by listening to it as it has his stamp all over it.
Listened to it a few times now and this is my favorite from King Animal so far.

Not sure if this is new or if I'm only just now discovering it, but they've put all the different versions of the album that will be available up for pre-order.

I wish the guitars were a little bit more prominent. But that's just me.
However, this song kicks ass. It is clearly a Thayil song. Chris' voice sounds well worn, but that's not a bad thing. This shits all over any other new song that has come out from this new rock bands.
I'm sorry, did I say "rock," I meant to say "shit." Five Finger Death Punch? Give me a fucking break. They sound like whiny cunts.
It's nice to see the likes of Soundgarden, Aerosmith and the Stones returning to show these fuckers how it's done.

Actually Thayil wrote the lyrics and Shephard the music, nonetheless it clearly has some trademark Thayil elements... has a great groove, sick bass and drums - they are just the perfect rhythm section... I think it will be one that reveals more over time
still growing but this is sounding a lot more like it (BATL i'm still on the fence about)
I agree James, it would seem Soundgarden are about to hit it out of the park again with King Animal...

A Shepherd-Thayil collaboration unusual, which proves the early comments about the recording style being different than previous albums.
No other band in history has pulled that off ever period.
No truer words have ever been spoken. A 16 year time frame between albums and the quality is like they never even split up.

If not, Jesus Christ what a return. I mean this guy was in cold storage in the same time of Slash being out of Guns N' Roses. Look at Slash. Look at Kim.
I'd rather have Kim. Quality > Quantity.

If there were any doubts about this album being killer they've long evaporated.
Appearance this week on letterman and kimmell, tour dates announced, special edition boxset and these killer snippets with commentary. This is how an album is supposed to be promoted.
Beyond excited and expect this to leak in full any day now.
