Re: Pat Benatar or Blondie?

I know they are to different genre's and both great singers but if I had to choose, I'd have to go with Pat Benatar.

Her range was awesome, she could hit every high note, every low note and had a ton of hits.

I was listening to her greatest hits cd and I can remember listening to 45's I had of her down in my basement and singing along when I was a teen.   Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Promises In The Dark [favorite] Fire and Ice, then in later years with Invincible [Billie Jean - what's fair is fair movie..LOL] Love is a Battlefield, We Belong - great stuff.

Aside from Christina Aguleria, you don't hear to many singers like this anymore.

Interesting question. While I'd have to say Blondie was more artsy whereas Pat Benatar was more a pure pop hits machine (We Belong & Love is a Battlefield seem straight out of an 80's movie soundtrack), I had to look at their greatest hits cd. Benatar had more hit songs, and bigger one's, but I dunno, I wonder if alot of it was fabricated & just given songs similar to Aguilera & Spears (wasn't Hit Me with you Best Shot written by John Mellencamp?!) whereas Blondie wrote the songs a la Gwen Stefani & No Doubt.

I'm going to go with Blondie on the credibility factor. Just my $.02.

Pet Benatar, I tend to actually like her songs. Which is unusual. The Kelly Clarkson of her time.

Definitely Blondie. Only song I liked from Pat was the song from Billie Jean.

Her older stuff is more rock driven - If you listen to Promises in the Dark it's a rock song very guitar driven, Hell is for Children, Heartbreaker, even Hit Me With You're Best Shot I don't think I would consider pop etc.   Even Shadows of The Night had a heavy guitar to it.

Definitely Love is A Battlefield, Invincible, We Belong, We Live For Love, definitely pop catagory.

I liked her better in her rock years but overall she is one of my favorite artists.

I liked Blondie too but not as much as PB.  22

I know I would recognize these songs if I heard them, but when I read the titles nothing came to mind. I'll check out the previews on Amazon.
