Re: GUNS N' ROSES: Israeli TV Report (Axl drinking shots at a bar)
So you wouldn't find it "cool" if you were hanging out at your local watering hole and Axl showed up and did a few shots with you? Because that's normal, right? That stuff happens all the time? Not to me it doesn't. I think it's just the opposite. I don't often read about celebrities hanging out with and interacting with fans. It DOES happen, but I wouldn't say it's frequent. In fact, I read more about how much of an "asshole" certain celebrities are because they blow off people on the streets or in public. Now again, I'm sure Axl isn't immune to this either, but from the stories I've read and videos I've seen he's always been gracious taking pictures, signing autographs, telling stories about the old times (Slash), and in this case doing shots with fans.
No it's not odd that Axl was hanging out at a club, but the fact that he was amongst commoners, that again, I'd say is rare. Celebrities hang out at clubs all the time, but they're usually secluded to private rooms or tables, surrounded by their entourage. My aunt and uncle said they saw Axl in the Hard Rock in Vegas a few months back and he had a bevy of beautiful women in tow, but no security or body guards. That, I think, is kind of cool.
Now again, I'm not saying Axl is the only one to do this and he is a man of the people. Obviously, for the most part that is far from the case. I ran into former Dallas Cowboy, 3 time Super Bowl Champ "The Playmaker" Michael Irvin at a strip club a few years back and he was cool as shit. He sat down with us, bought us all a round of drinks, threw a mess of ones down so the dancers would all come over and do their thing. Then he took a chosen lady of the night into the backroom for some one on one time. It was awesome. But I guess by your standards, that's not really a big deal. Maybe we just see things differently.
I don't care. Don't make it into something it's not. I don't find it interesting and I'm not fascinated by celebrities in that way. Don't act so offended that I'm not gushing over a clip of Axl in a bar in Israel. I shoudln't have said anything to begin with. Wasn't bagging on anyone just not sharing the same enthusiam for such things. Doesn't mean it's a bad thing(learn to distinguish between the two Naltav or maybe that's too hard for you).

I'm not offended in the least. Like I said, I guess we just see things differently. You don't think it's a big deal when celebrities interact with their fans in a public setting that is unplanned. That's fine. I think it's pretty cool. Like my meeting with The Playmaker. I was never a huge fan of the guy before and I'd probably focus more on the negatives that surround the guy. But he couldn't have been nicer that night, so that goes a long way for me. Good dude.

Re: GUNS N' ROSES: Israeli TV Report (Axl drinking shots at a bar)
Don't wanna rain anyone's parade, but Axl has drinking problems. It's obvious. I think he'd drink and does drink with anyone (except Slash, of course). The only change is (which isn't that recent) that he's not a recluse (and health fanatic) anymore and goes to clubs etc. (As far as I know he's still boycotting the fan meet 'n' greets.) He meets random people at random places and drinks with them. If Steven Adler were doing this, he'd be a sad, washed-up addict.
I think it clearly shows the poor state of GN'R (and its online fanbase) that Axl doing this is supposed to be an achievement. Is it a bad thing? No, except the serious ongoing alcohol abuse. Is it a good thing? I don't think so. I hope that the GN'R Yearbook 2012 will not highlight that 'Axl went out of his cave and got stoned numerous times with random people'. Even the silence was more exciting back then. At least we could speculate. Now we can only guess if Axl's drinking the shots in the same order every night.

Re: GUNS N' ROSES: Israeli TV Report (Axl drinking shots at a bar)
These armchair diagnosis of how much Axl drinks just goes to show that anything and everything he does is going to be looked at in a negative way by some people.
I don't need to leave my armchair to see that he's having drinking problems. I read the news, know about (some? of) his accidents, see the videos and see his face. Only serious amounts of shots can do that with your face.
Anyway, all members of GN'R had been addicted to different substances, and some of them still are. They all survived the abuses with less or more wounds. Axl was the clearest of the bunch. It's interesting to see that now he's having the most problems, besides Steven and Tommy, I think. Life goes on, no big deal, but just because he's drinking a lot publicly doesn't mean we should celebrate his social rebirth. That was my point.
Re: GUNS N' ROSES: Israeli TV Report (Axl drinking shots at a bar)
I kinda agree with Mikka. There's a double standard. I think Axl's increased alcohol consumption has led to his weight gain, and frankly if Slash or Steven were doing this, the fan base would be all over their asses over it. "Grow up", "once a drunk/junkie always one", "what a joke", etc.
'Tis true.
My personal opinion on it is this... I don't care if Axl is drinking, doing lines, chewing up fuckin' Vikes for his leg or whatever the fuck... as long as it gets his ass into a studio and he hammers out new music -- May the power of Staley be with you.
Re: GUNS N' ROSES: Israeli TV Report (Axl drinking shots at a bar)
But to just assume Axl has "a drinking problem" without knowing the dude seems a bit much.
And that is why I usually stay off the GNR forum. Armchair Axl experts claiming this and that from looking at YouTube videos.
